    RCBS Summit vs Redding Ultramag

It’s been posted…. Summits have been prone to the handle breaking right at the end of the threads. Son’s lasted only a few months, but to be fair…. RCBS replaced it no questions asked. Personally I think it’s due, at least in part, to the paint (powder coat?) on the shoulder that it tightens...

    450 Rigby vs 460 Weatherby

A mercury dampener can be added for those who want a heavier gun. Should be less than $200 installed.

    Shipping powder individual to individual

Thanks for the reply. Driving is not an option, about 2000 miles away!

    Shipping powder individual to individual

Is it legal to ship powder between two individuals? If so, who to use and are there any special requirements? Thanks Tim

    Current Production Weatherby DGR Opinion

I have two comments on this subject. First IMHO a WBY Mark V chambered in 460 WBY with factory barrel has less kick than a WBY Mark V chambered in .416 REM mag. That factory ported barrel does a lot for recoil reduction and is not loud. But, I wear hearing protection when I shoot. Secondly, I...

Best way to trim 1/4" or more of brass?

We have a CP2000 with the Dillon power trimmer. It will eat .223 and spit out 300blackout as fast as you pull the handle. I know the .500 is much bigger diameter but I can’t imagine it not cutting them down at a moderate speed.

How to be polite, but honest, about trophy quality?

After reading this and your summarization of the points, I can say I do agree with you trying to be politically correct and still giving an honest opinion. Earlier, I thought you were being ‘that guy’ who always had a better trophy.

How to be polite, but honest, about trophy quality?

Not every animal is a trophy, not every hunter has to have a trophy and certainly not every animal is a record. Then there are such a thing called a cull. The only thing I even remotely agree with you on is the age. I don’t like to see young animals harvested unless they obviously need to be...

Hydrostatic shock does not help kill animals

I’ve seen a whitetail run over a 100 yards in chest high to head high grass and brush with his heart blown completely away with a 7Mag @ 30-40 yards.

For trade - One kidney (well used) for airfare

We have workers flying in from South Africa every spring. Houston Hobby is (or at least was a few months ago) much easier to get through than IAH. There is a flight from Hobby to Atlanta to JBerg with minimal layover.

    Hog Hunts near Austin

Lots of places around Texas. Pintail hunting in Garwood has hog hunts, thermal hunts and helicopter on private land. There is a boatload of hogs on the place.

Biltong - who makes their own ??

One of our workers is from Port Elizabeth. He makes it in his A/C house (lower humidity) using a laundry basket with a grill rack on top. He hangs the meat from the rack and puts a fan on it. The hoes on the laundry basket allows plenty of air flow.
