    Jo-burg Hotels

This is a fantastic thread. I thought everyone just did Africa Sky. If there is an overnight, seems like Afton with the VIP rifle service is sweet. Not gonna lie, as I make a little more money, the VIP type treatments are pretty cool. Can’t wait to be fully independent, and have time to add...

    Latest on CBP form 4457

I went to RSA in April. Here is what I learned. 1) CBP in Spokane would NOT list the suppressor on the 4457. He said check as accessory, with copy of stamp. 2) The ATF regulations list things like machine guns, destructive devices, etc, requiring a 5320.20, and do not list suppressors as being...

Who else got busted by the "point creep" ?

As a former Oregon resident, trying to cash in several high point totals. For deer, I applied for Applegate Blacktail muzzleloader, with 15 points. My Dad had 3, as a resident, which was guaranteed. Money paid, I drew, he didn't. Outfitter looking for a landowner tag for him, or else he may do...

    SCAM - MarcoPolo57 - Huntingbiggun - Hunter06FLKY -

I didn't even know that bumping was a rule. I was just commenting in context of the scammers that got this thread started, all of a sudden you see a ton of optics up for sale, bumping, how would a guy NOT think they are a scam. One of them apparantly sold, so I guess it's legit anyways.

    SCAM - MarcoPolo57 - Huntingbiggun - Hunter06FLKY -

The amount of optics for sale is crazy. I'm not sure how one could confidently sort thru them all. They keep bumping to the top, no one is calling them out, maybe they are legit?

    SCAM - MarcoPolo57 - Huntingbiggun - Hunter06FLKY -

Here is what grok had to say: Hunter06FLKY = old 2005 username ripped from another US hunting site (FL dude, thousands of posts), slapped onto a brand-new 2023 AH profile claiming “now living in Austria.” Zero history here till the optics flood. MarcoPolo57 = 2019 join (only 8 posts ever)...

Thank God for The Wellness Company; pack doxycycline

Yes, AI explaination: African tick bite fever causes a rash because the Rickettsia africae bacteria infect and damage the endothelial cells lining your blood vessels. This systemic vascular infection triggers an immune response and inflammation (vasculitis), leading to the characteristic...

Thank God for The Wellness Company; pack doxycycline

Stay physically upright after taking doxycycline. I took it for tick bite fever a couple months ago, one night right before bed. Earned me a trip to ER for viscous lidocaine, it was like hydrochloric acid heartburn, I thought I was going to die. Pics of my bite and some of the rash. Awful.

How far do you go in the backcountry?

We used to target large road closures and take mountain bikes with little cargo trailers back in a few miles. E-bikes are not legal, but so many use them anyways, that gig just isn’t what it used to be.

    21 days with Mark Sullivan

I wonder if the client could just yell “BANG” and get Mark to shoot? Let Mark pay his own trophy fee. He makes for an entertaining video for sure

What is your strategy for a late season cancelation/hunt?

375Fox, Excellent advice, agree and understand. I was more talking about the plains game option he offered, I think if I do elephant it will be normal route. Never would have thought I would really consider elephant, until I was along on a buffalo. I’ve got the bug, bad… 5320 was for supressor...

What is your strategy for a late season cancelation/hunt?

I’m not a guy that really looks for “cheap”, but if you can inherit a meaningful deposit due to a cancellation, and benefit the outfitter by becoming the paying customer, why not. I just did my first plains game safari, could have only taken a carry on and my gun. I’m entering a season in life...

A true Taxidermy cost comparison RSA vs USA

Great comparison, thank you. I just got back from my first safari. 8 animals, 7 shoulder mounts and a full body baboon. I made the assumption I could save something having it done in RSA. For me, I like to support my local taxi. I like that I have more recourse if something needs touch up. I'm...
