    PG Load Choice for 300H&H

I took a 300 h&h with 200 gr swift a frames to Namibia this year. Performed great. That said if you’re choosing between the two I’d go terminal ascent, I’ve killed a few elk with them in 280 Ackley. One of my favorite bullets. Accubonds being one of my least favorite bullets.

That is correct that’s where the driving bands reach the lands. I bought the gun new last year, can’t say the been very accurate though I have a few kills with it. I’ve debated sending it back to Ruger over the throat being extremely uneven and the locking tab on the lever binding up. Seems like...

Well put, I did have the same thought about self defense. Your bolt gun is certainly going to be a better candidate than my single shot in that scenario but better to have and not need than need and not have. You’ve got my curiosity on the Staball powder, I’m gonna pick some up. Thanks for the...

I could see solids being more useful in that caliber. I’d definitely use it as a follow up for something like eland or giraffe.

Just thought it was a neat option. Maybe I’ll get some use out of them in some hunting scenario but unlikely. Just wanted to play around with them.

:ROFLMAO: North Fork did get back to me and said that amount of jump is not normal and to change to a shorter seating stem. I’ll back the die out of the press a bit and go from there. Thanks for the help.

Ruger no.1 and using Hornady oal guage with a bullet comparator. I realized the driving bands are what makes contact with the rifling unlike a Barnes bullet. My only other thought is unscrewing the die body off the case mouth several turns. I sent an email to North Fork, we’ll see if the get...

Good to know, thank you, I guess my main concern is if this even going to be remotely accurate or safe with that amount of jump.

What caliber would you bring back from the dead?

No worries and thank you! I’ll likely be reaching out here soon if I run into any issues.

Reloading a 275 Rigby here with North Fork Flat Point Solids 160 gr. My measured CBTO is 2.460 with my seating die all the way out it buries the ogive into the case mouth. So with no way to measure this I went COAL and the furthest out I can seat the bullet is .293 off the lands. This seems...

What caliber would you bring back from the dead?

Bout to load up some 310s as soon as I get the gun back, also trying North Fork CPS 250s. Should work slick on Eland next time I go to Africa!
