    404 jeffery vs 416 Rigby

404 Jeffery for me. Used for 100 years on cape buffalo, it's a short range game stopper. I'd go with that.

    8-06 users ?

I had a friend/mentor back in the 70's who was a big fan of the 8mm/06, and years later a co-worker gave me a set of reloading dies for one. They're still in a box somewhere. It seems that I'm not the only one who likes to rename cartridges. I refer to my .280 Rem as the .275 Whelen (with a nod...

My favorite Hunting rifle 338wm - what is yours?

An Abolt stainless stalker in 25-06 probably claims that title, almost by default. Started using it out of curiosity and was so pleased by the results, it's my go to rifle. Lost count of mule deer, whitetail and antelope it's taken. Been used by several novice hunters to take their first deer too.

    Barnes LRX performance

I haven't used the LRX, but I do have some TTSXs worked up for my .257 Wby. Very accurate at the range, but haven't had the opportunity to try them on game yet. I had great results with the 168 grain Nosler ETip out of a .300 WSM. Dropped a muley on the spot at 326 yards. Golf ball sized exit...

    Safari Pants

I have used Tag Safari clothing a great deal and have always found them to be very well made and rugged. Also, the people who own the small family business are great people. Their clothing is as well or better made as the much more expensive Orvis. To me the mark of quality is in the people who...

    What are you reading?

I'm listening to an audiobook version of King Stach's Wild Hunt by Uladzimir Karatkievič and oh my god the age gaps are even worse than I remember. Great descriptions of everything though, really makes one feel depressed.

Easiest Way to make 458 Winchester Brass?

I have tried making cases from bottlenecked magnums, .264 and 7mm, and case wall thickness was a problem. That is why I bought the .458s.

Woodleigh RNSN vs PP Softs for Expansion

I believe the PP has a tougher jacket... Woodleigh bullets are rated for impact velocities and PP is listed at a higher velocity than the RN. I would expect the RN to expand more readily at low velocity.

What have you killed with the 8x57?

The 8x57 is a very accurate cartridge especially in a match chamber. The only problem is the limited bullet selection. I am very impressed with the 200 SMK in the 8x57 though. It pretty much gives the same performance as the 30-06.
