Welcome on board Sam. We have perhaps met both in person where I think you were helping at one of BB’s marksmanship training days in the Lakes but also virtually as I bought some Spuhr Blaser rings off you on SD.
Great to hear you are travelling to Africa for a buffalo. I know you will have a...
Sure have experienced this, several times in fact. The photo shows the pitting at the crown of my 7mm Rem Mag after about 400 shots. The moderator was never left on after use but the rifle was not cleaned until I had shot 30-40 shots unless it got wet. This meant the barrel could easily have...
I use a moderated rifle almost daily and the biggest frustration in my mind is how they carry on a sling. They often constantly try to rotate backwards when walking. The heavier the moderator the worse this happens. The length aspect can be offset by shortening the barrel at the expense of...
In 2024 my friends and I hunted Zimbabwe and had a truly great time. Due to EU embargo’s we were unable to take our own rifles into Zimbabwe so ended up using the camp .375s which were adequate.
This got me thinking if it would be possible for my spare DG rifle to be imported or another rifle...
If you google “monkey sticks the stalking directory” you will get a step by step guide on how to build a set of quad sticks that can be fully deployed for long shots and used as a bipod for quick shots.
Wow what a rifle, truly stunning and absolutely fit for purpose!! The Croc on the brass inlay is genius
Buzz must be so excited to get it! I confess to being less enthralled by the new boots
I have an SKB fitted for two long guns that have survived two African trips and a Pelican 1700 for an R8. The SKB is heavier and feels more solid than my spare Peli 1750.
There is a saying in the British military that “no plan survives first contact with the enemy”. I wonder if the same is true with test firing a double rifle?
All my rifle hunting involves my Viper flex quad sticks. So much better than two or three legged supports after a modicum of acclimatisation. I would never go back to a bipod or tripod.
Welcome on board Ron. I have very much enjoyed your books, as I am certain have many others on here. Having your vast experience and knowledge on the forum will be most valuable to us all.
