    Euro Mount Displays

That is probably the most impressive euro I've ever seen but how in the world do you keep from impaling yourself when you walk past those horns? :A Crutches:

    Who is your preferred taxidermist?

I have not... yet. Based on the other thread he sounds more than a bit overwhelmed at the moment and my hides are only fairly recently out of the tannery so I'm not sure how much he can really tell me other than to confirm that everything is accounted for.

    Who is your preferred taxidermist?

I meant when you find a new taxidermist you are happy with to finish the remainder.

    Who is your preferred taxidermist?

From reading this thread and both sides of the story it sounds like Dennis accommodated your wish to spread the work and payments out over time and then you became unhappy with the exact length of that time and the poor communication. I don't know if that is true or not but if it is, I can't...

Eland, is the .308 Winchester enough gun?

I suspect that their have been far more eland wounded and lost by clients shooting magnums they couldn't handle than by clients shooting less powerful rifles that they shot well. That being said, if one can shoot a magnum well, one would be silly not to use it on an animal that large. And if one...

    Who is your preferred taxidermist?

I have taxidermy there as well but I can practice a little patience and a little perspective. It seems you can as well. The OP, well...

    Experiences With Shot Placement

This is the key point to take away in my opinion. Any through and through hit to the chest cavity will almost certainly cause the lungs to collapse and death occurs quickly due to asphyxiation from that collapse not due to the lungs filling with blood or from blood loss (exsanguination). The...

    Hornady eld-x field reviews

Yes, 180 grain is fine. Bullet construction is far more important than weight and a bit of extra weight is a poor substitute for better construction.

    Taking Trophies...or only pictures?

I don't have to kill to have hunted nor do I have to kill to have the memories of the hunt. Yet, when I am fortunate enough to have killed something both photos and taxidermy enhance those memories and help to keep them clear in my mind. To me, while the photos are great and certainly stir the...

Recommendations on first African mounts please

Unfortunately, I don't have a gemsbok for you to mount this time but I'll keep that in mind after my next trip. I definitely want my hartebeest done with that pose though.

Recommendations on first African mounts please

I'm also a fan of wall pedestal mounts (and coincidentally my trophies are at the tannery in route to Dennis). Personally, I really like the look of the red hartebeest wall pedestal with a hard left or right turn. I would imagine something similar with the gemsbok would look very nice as...

    Cheetah Hunting in Namibia

First, we're not talking about culling, we're talking controlled, selective hunting. Second, the statement that "older animals have mostly been culled out because those are the ones in high demand with hunters" is contradictory with both the statement "The poachers don't care, they would just...

    Cheetah Hunting in Namibia

The math is very simple. Using your numbers, of those 1300 tigers some will die of natural causes every year, mostly due to advanced age/tooth wear. Selective hunting targets a small percentage of the old males, those most likely to die soon and who have already contributed to the population...
