Who's ready for the Dallas Safari Club this weekend

Another year in Atlanta, two years in Houston then back to Dallas? Or has that schedule been impacted?

    Range finding binos

I have the Swaro EL Range 10x32. The glass is great. However they are my only experience in range finding binos. They may be fantastic or not so great since I have no comparison.

Who's ready for the Dallas Safari Club this weekend

I’m here at the show. Quite a bit smaller than the January show, but that is to be expected with hunting season going on. The exhibitors are very good and enthusiastic to discuss their product or just to say hi and talk. I’m enjoying the show.

What made you choose the destination for your 2nd Safari?

Excellent question. My first trip was a product of a DU auction that was passed on to my son. We went, a good friend joined us, and had a great time. Harvested 5 animals, kudu, impala, Blesbok, golden wildebeest and bushbuck. Within two weeks of being back I was planning the next trip...

Congratulations. Very nice. My first African animal was a Blesbok also. Hopefully I’ll get the mount soon.

Jim Green Boots- Help me decide

In 2024 I was in Limpopo near Lephalale wearing Keen boots. I had issues with thorns and the Keens have a fairly dense outsole. I’m heading back to Limpopo in 2027 and I will bring a multitool or a needle nose plier. For this trip I plan to wear African Rangers that have a Vibram sole. Just my...

Jim Green Boots- Help me decide

For walking in Africa I would wear the regular African Rangers. There is additional thickness to limit the thorn penetration. I’m afraid the barefoot thickness would not do much for thorns coming through to your foot. I have 2 pair of African Rangers and they are extremely comfortable. I have...

Hello @deewayne, I’m still putting everything together. Have the scope, rings should be here Friday. Initially I’m using Hornady factory loads to zero and get used to the rifle. I just received reloading dies, need to get some additional brass and bullets. I’m planning on Barnes or Berger and...

Decided to take a leap and try out a Seekins Precision PH3 in 25 Creedmoor. By all reports and reviews they are really good rifles. Going to top it with a Trijicon 5-20 x 50. Plan to use it for target shooting, Texas whitetails and pigs. Maybe Pronghorn if the opportunity presents itself. I...

Where is the best steak (and why)

Hard to beat my backyard. Go to the local butcher and pick out a good ribeye or strip. Put on kosher salt, black pepper and granulated garlic. Leave uncovered in the fridge 24 ish hours. Sous vide to 129 degrees for 2 hours then sear on a very hot grill. Pair with grilled asparagus, baked potato...
