    How to Label Euro Skulls

I have always been a fan of traditional “ivorine” (ie synthetic ivory, essentially a cream-coloured celluloid) labels on shield mounts such as the below examples. After much searching, I have managed to find an engraver here in the UK who is able and willing to replicate this style of label and...

Quintessential British Big Game Chamberings from the “Golden Age” - What Am I Missing?

Thank you all very much for the input on this. I’ve passed ‘the list’ on and hope to have the finished display by early September, at which point I’ll share photographs.

    Reinventing the typical trophy photo

I tend to gravitate towards photographs without me in them so that the focus is on the animal, the environment and / or the rifle. Here’s one from a trip to Scotland last year. We’d dragged the stag a hundred yards or so to the head of the lochan and stepped back while we waited for the...

Quintessential British Big Game Chamberings from the “Golden Age” - What Am I Missing?

I suspect Kynamco are sadly no more…I also noticed that the website was down so did a bit of googling. The company entered into insolvency proceedings at the end of May. https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/02972275/insolvency

Quintessential British Big Game Chamberings from the “Golden Age” - What Am I Missing?

Thank you for taking the time to share these images. Very helpful. My aim is not to compile a complete list as such (I agree, that could be a never ending task!) more a long list for the maker of the display to work with to see what he is actually able to source.

Quintessential British Big Game Chamberings from the “Golden Age” - What Am I Missing?

Ah, I had understood that the 375 2/12” NE was also sometimes referred to as a “Velopex” - serves me right for blindly trusting Wikipedia I guess! Thank you for the correction. It’s a cool and unusual round for sure - I have been lucky enough to take a red stag with one out of an early 1900s...

Quintessential British Big Game Chamberings from the “Golden Age” - What Am I Missing?

Thank you! These are great suggestions. Added to the list. Now to see what the chap making the display is actually able to source…!

Quintessential British Big Game Chamberings from the “Golden Age” - What Am I Missing?

Thank you very much for the input. Much appreciated. I’m not familiar with the 256E - is that the same / similar to the 256 Gibbs Magnum?

Quintessential British Big Game Chamberings from the “Golden Age” - What Am I Missing?

Thank you! I considered the 280 Ross but wasn’t able to find any references to it being used in Africa or India, only Canada, Scotland and New Zealand. I am sure that it must have been - if it’s good enough for a red deer on the hill, it’s presumably good enough for medium sized plains game...

Brilliant, thank you very much! I hadn’t even considered the 303 British but a very good point.
