It's been a minute or six since I read "Atlas".

The 2 books in front are my latest thrift store finds. The Weatherby book on the left side was a gift from a friend who is a business associate of Weatherby. Still have more Africa books to read, just hope for enough time to do so.

My taxidermist is like many others, a small shop usually just himself and one other guy. He has overhead costs plus materials plus a family, so I understand a deposit. The last time I stopped by his shop he showed me several completed mounts that customers have failed to pay the balances...

Capes for nyala and impala will go to my Colorado taxidermist for shoulders mounts. Zebra is getting done into a rug in South Africa. Two years ago, my taxidermist shipped the salted kudu cape to a tannery in Michigan. It took a few months, but turned out very nice.

My taxidermist did a very good job. I know he had upfront expenses for tanning and form. I gave him a third down, then another third a few months later, balance on delivery. Maybe paying also depends on your trust in a good job.

My recent hunt in SA, having Nyala and impala shoulder mounted by my local taxidermist. He did a nice job on my 2023 Botswana kudu. That hide was shipped salted, but took several months for his tannery to get the hide back. The SA taxidermist has an option of a dry tan. Is it best to have...

We had 2 excellent cooks in SA with Bushman's Quiver. Chef Gift in East Cape made great meals, bobotie and...lasagna. Nyala was good, zebra tenderloins were melt in mouth terrific. Chef Chris in Western Cape could win every cooking show competition. Every game meat was cooked perfectly...

The same friend also loaned this Godwin book. Lots of good reading accumulating in the home library. I forgot how much enjoyment I got from reading.

A good friend let me borrow this book. Was one of the most interesting about what Robert Mugabe did to Zimbabwe.
