i believe Sako did build rifles on FN M98 actions before the L61.
At the local rifle range a few months ago a man had a collection of new Rigby Stalkers a 375 H&H , a 30/06 a 7x57 , & 9.3x62 . I collected his 375 brass as he did not reload for it. he was shooting it off sticks& left the Federal brass on the ground.
I have a vanguard in 243 Ackley it makes the 243 Win a better cartridge much less case stretch & 90 g bullet at 3050 fps with a 24 inch bbl , but it does not impress old Bob at all.
Yes the Moisin is ugly but they worked & the Lee Endfield is sort of ugly & it was the bolt action greatest battle rifle of all time . To me the FN sporter M98 of the 1960s, WIN 70, Rem 700 & even the Weatherby mk5
are what rifles should look like
Nothing ugly about those Rem 700 ADLs i have 2 from 1967 & 1970 a 222 REM & a 308 WIN, THE 222 shoots 5 shot groups about .75 & the 308 about 1 moa 3 shot groups, floated bbls & lighter trigger springs.
