    300 H&H

The factory recommendation is to crimp the 168 TTSX on the ogive for sufficient tension to achieve correct pressure. That is why I went to the 165 TSX. I just did not want the hassle. Call me lazy. Good luck.

    300 H&H

Nosler 180 grain accubonds are very accurate in my 1957 m-70. They chronograph at 2850-2880. I have found reloads at that velocity are accurate but groups open up at higher velocity. Also, I have found the Barnes 165 grain TSX to be accurate at 2950 with H4831SC. Barnes has this load published...

Leaving for Algar Lodge in Patagonia tomorrow - does anybody have any advice for me?

Also, make sure you tell the owners what you want before you leave the headquarters each morning as the guides do not speak English very well. I had a chance to shoot an average boar, which was fine with me, but the guide was looking for a “grande”. A little miscommunication.

Leaving for Algar Lodge in Patagonia tomorrow - does anybody have any advice for me?

I hunted with them in 2013. Shot stag and cull. I used their rifle which had double set triggers and wood stock. Seems it was an European make. Accurate with excellent triggers. If you want a Russian boar let them know ahead of time so they can bait a spot. Food and lodging was great.

    The Big Bore Dilemma

Recoil! Someone please explain why numerous videos of hunters, including light weight ladies and PH shooting large bore doubles do not seem to suffer from recoil. The guns don’t seem to rise and their bodies remain stationary as if shooting a small bore. I know skill is required but just don’t...

What is going on with tipping culture in the hunting industry?

Muskox your saying on a 50k hunt in the NWT a$3,000 tip is common. That is 6%. Does the outfitters get a tip too?

What is going on with tipping culture in the hunting industry?

On a 30K hunt in Alaska what do the field guides, assistant guides or cooks make? With those hunts increasing 1-2 K per year seems the outfitters are keeping pace with cost. If the answer is “not much” then I feel most if not all the tip should go the field crew. Is there a customary split on...

    The 90% rifle

The 30-06 can be used for squirrels. All you have to do is “bark’em”. Just shoot the limb they are on. They flying bark and concussion will kill them without any holes.

    Reloading neck sizing vs crimping

Shootist, in the 264 do you think I would have pressure issues if I didn’t use an expander? I am using Sierra 140 grain boat tail so they will seat without expanding? Also, might this effect accuracy? Thanks for your thoughts
