This was a favorite past time of mine before having kids. I remember forgetting I’d bid on something then getting an email that I’d won, always at a ridiculously low price!
I’ve had this happen. Thankfully the rifle was fine, scope was crushed and eye piece bent down so far you couldn’t remove the bolt. Called Maven and told them what happened, they replaced the scope free of charge.
I helped Erik with some hunts before, you get beyond the gate and you forget you’re in a high fence pretty quickly. It’s very rough country, leading to rolling hills and some small fields. Last summer we hunted hard and put in some 10-12 mile days, saw a ton of aoudad. Saw several rams get...
I load this bullet for one of my 375s. Can’t seem to run it as fast as other solid coppers without hitting pressure. I don’t remember if I ever settled on a load or not, but seems the accuracy was on par with what you’d expect. Only game I’ve shot was a jackrabbit. One thing to note, this thing...
168 grain a max is in my opinion the best bullet in a 308. I stuff it over a near max load of varget and it performs in every situation. 20” barrel, velocity varies from 2680 to 2750 depending on weather. My longest and shortest kills have been with this load. Big plains whitetail at 505 yards...
Thanks! He lost 6 or 8 inches from archery season to rifle. Had a long tine that came out of the palmated fork he broke off. I have plenty of pictures of him running from me during archery season
Erik might have a studio photo of it. Unfortunately the spot it’s hanging doesn’t offer much opportunity for a side view without being right against it. My office is getting spray foamed Monday, so hopefully I’ll have him hung up out there in a couple weeks. Can see it a little better here, but...
In case yall were wondering what he looked like on the hoof. Funny story too, was headed home from hunting to get some burgers together for my son’s birthday party. Spotted him behind my house bedded in some weeds, conveniently 60 yards from the gate. Had him down and loaded 5 minutes before my...
Got a surprise text yesterday saying my Mule deer from 2024 was ready to pickup. Swung by Top of Texas taxidermy and to say I was blown away by my mount is an understatement.
I had no idea what I wanted to do with this so I asked Erik to choose a form that showcased the uniqueness of the deer...
Very nice! I have an ultralight 2.5x I’ve been meaning to put on there. With that 1.75-6 you hardly know it’s there, I imagine with the ultralight it will feel like it did with irons.
