Thanks for the input gents - Ive never seen a 416 rem mag in a 550 here in Australia unfortunately. I shall give it some thought.

I’ve seen a few of the new Rigbys and I’ve seen one Bolt action Heym. I would take the Heym any day to a Rigby in the similar price bracket. Plus Heym do the 404 Jeffery’s.....

Great looking rifle ArmyGrunt. I love the look of that Classic stock. Just be aware - they are very addictive! I know - I have an R8 Proffessional and 4 barrels now Very practical guns and I love the fact that one can quite safely walk with one in the chamber & action decocked. Happy hunting!

If one cannot shoot a 308 properly, then handing them a 300 win mag or similar would more than likely make matters worse. No substitute for shot placement and good bullet selection.......a magnum is not a miracle cure.....

New M70s are a great rifle!

No R8s that I am aware of have come apart. The action was tested to approximately 215000 psi about two years ago in Germany and I believe it's just been tested again to somewhere close to 250000psi. Without the action blowing up. So that's well in excess of just about any other action one...
