    Dillon 550 press for .470NE??

Thanks - Still thinking through all the double rifle pros/cons/general info I've received from the knowledgeable folks here. But if I go through with it there will be an AmmoMaster in my future. Re powder trickling - for max accuracy rifle loads I've always "trickled" all charges to the...

    Dillon 550 press for .470NE??

Hi guys...still doing some research/thinking about a double rifle. I currently use a Dillon 550 reloading press and wondering if it can accept 470 NE or if the opening is too small. It may be moot because I don't see a listing on the Dillon site for 470 conversion kits and with out that, which...

    New or "vintage"?

Thanks, guys, appreciate the input. From several private exchanges with a well-known member here it seems like with my budget/expectations, I am in the lightweight class, stepping into a heavyweight fight! His advice was similar - buy a good bolt gun! Unfortunately, I don't want another bolt...

    .475 No 2 Nitro Express

Thanks! I searched "Bertram brass Australia" and the Bertrambrass.com came up. I didn't realize it wasn't "speaking" for the company! Wish they also produced dies!!!

    .475 No 2 Nitro Express

Related - I got on the Bertram brass site a few days ago while considering calibers such as those mentioned and it appears they are getting out of the brass cartridge business...https://bertrambrass.com/ I saw several English doubles on various gun sites that looked very worthwhile considering...

    Caliber "consistency" through the years??

Bonk...I think you are smarter than I am! :) Sounds like 470 is the least non-smart option... ;)

    Caliber "consistency" through the years??

A rifle listed as 400/450 turned out to be 3 1/4 rather than 3" despite not saying that anywhere in the ad. I discovered it by enlarging the pic of the barrel and seeing that inscribed. So that got me wondering...does 470 NE rifles have any variations or are they pretty much standard though...

    "Available" .40 caliber reloading components...

Decided on a 450/400 rather than a 470 - ordered the brass/dies from Midway. Sent two email messages to a well-known double rifle seller several days ago re buying a rifle on his site but no response yet.

    450/400 Questions

I'm just starting out at this but I've found 470 nitro and 450/400 3" (400 Jeffrey) brass and dies readily available. Other calibers? Not really that I can find. So I've restricted my double rifle search to 470 NE or MAYBE a 450/400 if a nice British one shows up that I can afford.

    "Available" .40 caliber reloading components...

Concurrent with my interest in acquiring a double rifle I've been doing some research on calibers. My initial thought was for a .470 NE and it's still my main "thought" but I was thinking that looking at other .40 calibers would give me a bit wider range of "vintage" British rifles to consider...

    New or "vintage"?

"You need to find an evaluator to whom the seller can send the gun for inspection." So am I understanding correctly that the way to approach an internet gun sale for one of these rifles is to have the seller send it to my "evaluator" and then the sale would be made (or not) based on the...

    New or "vintage"?

GREAT INFORMATION, thanks!!!! I had no idea that many of the famous British gunmakers didn't make guns!!

    New or "vintage"?

Yes, I'm sure that's the best approach, Steve. And since the on-line sellers all seem to offer a 3 day examination period - though no actual firing allowed - that should be enough to determine if it fits me dimension-wise if not how it will feel to shoot. Since any purchase would have to be...
