What slings are you using on your double rifles?

I mostly carry my 470 in Alberta in November, while taking my son on whitetail hunts. It can get quite bloody cold, hanging onto the steel barrels or action for a hike just isn't pleasant for me . Hanging the rifle on the sticks with a sling is nice, I don't like having to lean it against trees...

What slings are you using on your double rifles?

I have carried my Merkel 140 on quite a few deer hunts, it has the sling mounts on it, but I haven't put a sling on it as of yet . I will for my next hunt . The double is heavy and I don't like carrying it on my shoulder . Always have a sling on my bolt rifles. The sling loops are narrower than...

    Any pipe smokers?

I am really enjoying the Samuel Gawith 1792 flake, but cripes it is $70 a 50 gram tin in Canada . I visited Edwards pipe and tobacco in Tampa Bay this February, wow what a nice shop. Prices much different in the USA that's for sure!

'Shooting the British Double Rifle' new 4th edition

Ordered one from Buffalo arms today! I am quite excited , prices on previous editions made me cringe a bit. So glad this 4th edition came out, and was well priced!

    Finally got my Landi!

I have a disco 1 with the 4.0 liter. It has been a blast to drive and for teaching my son a bit about mechanics. It has always got me home, and I am always proud when it can actually make it up to the speed limit !

    Another Poor Man’s Double

That's awesome! Good fun to get into double rifles without spending 10k! I have a couple inserts for 12 gauge so I can shoot 44 mag out of an old German double. Haven't tried it yet, but for fifty bucks will be good for a conversation if nothing else .

    416 Rigby bullet seating

I contacted Prophet River, where I purchased the dies and rifle a few years ago, just to ask if they had seen this before with the seating die. They hadn't heard of this , and reached out to Hornady immediately and Hornady is sending a new die body out with no charge for shipping...

    416 Rigby bullet seating

I did see some Lyman does for a good price, I am tempted to order a set , less than half the price of the hornady. This is the first issue I have had with any dies, and I probably have 30 sets, from Lee, rcbs,.redding Lyman and hornady. Hornady did offer to send me the longer 458 Lott die...

    416 Rigby bullet seating

Brand new hornady cases. The die dimensions just seem way off for the seating die.

    416 Rigby bullet seating

The plug for the crimper part of the die is 1.625 inches long, the pic was just to show how far the case sticks out of the die. I can barely get a thread into the rock chucker before the die would crimp the case at full stroke, without the seating plug even in the die.

    416 Rigby bullet seating

Old thread but same issue with an older but new set of hornady 416 Rigby dies. Sizing due works good, but seating die does not work. The die body is shorter than my 458 Lott die body. I can barely get it one thread into my press, rock chucker, before it will start to crimp the case. If I...

    Reloder 15.5

I concur that a big load of 4831 in the 470 gets your attention, haven't tried the RL 15 yet, I should as I am getting older lol.

458 Lott instead of 416 Rigby?

I have the 458 win in a zastava, and a rigby and lott in the cz. They are beauties. The Lott I have to run 3 rings on the scope , wrecked the Warne qd with a 1-6 razor, 3 of them no worries. I have a little 3-9 Zeiss conquest on the 416 and it has been fine. Love the 416 and 458, I think...
