Not rode hard, but certainly put up wet

Great rifle and caliber! Perfect for the bushveld with handloads. My late Grandfather owned one just like this.....used it on buffalo and PG till he passed away. I still regret not being able to trace and buy it.

    7mm Rem Mag for Eland

Your choice will work.....use caution re shot placement and it will be smiling faces all-round. Most of my eland was taken with a 30-06 [ 180gr & 220 gr ], some with 375 H&H [ 270gr & 300 gr ], and some with the Rigby 416 [ 400gr ]. Never had any problems with the 30-06. A Letter From Peter Hathaway Capstik

PHC had a way with words few could match. He conveyed Africa through his writings in such a way that one could perceive the sounds, smells and sights through his words. He remains my favourite writer on African hunting. His best paragraph from all his books : " If a man will live his life in...

    Handgun Hunters

Hello @Lefty I started out with a Super Redhawk 44 Mag for a few years in the bushveld early 90's. Very comfortable and accurate enough at 50 yards off-hand. Moved on to a S&W 460 XVR. Hunted quite a bit with it....being from South Africa ammunition was/is very limited. Loading was only...

    Ideal bullet weight for eland?

Any of your options would be fine. Most of the eland that I have shot over a thirty-year period was with a 30-06 and 220gr bullets. Some with 375 H&H....some with 416 Rigby. My biggest bull however was a mountain hunt using a 7,62×39.[ circumstances]. Shot placement much more important than...

    Most Coveted Animal in Africa?

Pygmy forest elephant bull. To finally settle the myth and long-standing debate about (1) it's existence and (2) it's classification using DNA. [ A mature bull is the size of an average hippo ].

    African Braais- your favorites ?!

Being South African..........braai-broodjies is a must-have on any respectable braai occassion. I prefer my gourmet version: Sourdough bread, Mozzarella, Gruyere, Gouda, Sun-dried tomatoes, Fresh basil, Red-onion, Lemon mayo, Black pepper, Cayenne pepper.
