I think if I was 'forced' to have a 'long range double rifle' it would be a .30 R Blaser in an O/U configuration.

I think that is where that .30R Blaser comes in granted I still moderately agree that a Double Rifle isn't "designed" around long distance shooting but the .30R Blaser is probably the calibre one would choose for a double rifle if they wanted to "reach out".
