    Developing a flinch

Thankyou everyone. This thread from beginning to end has been an education. One that I needed badly. I have been shooting 12 ga for years and never thought of them as being heavy recoil At least not as bad as my first experience at the age of 10yrs, shooting a classic 45-70 in the prone...

    My Covid vaccination experience

Back in 1958 I was among a group of 12 agents that were scheduled to be spread around the world to 12 different sites but the assignments were to be drawn by lot just before we were dispersed so we couldn't accidentally reveal our destination. It was very classified. So we all had to have...

    My Covid vaccination experience

Philip, if you have a name of the victim that can be verified then I might believe it. But all deaths are recorded in San Antonio, but they cannot be looked up under "a friend of a friend" If your story is true, divulge the victim so we can all see the evidence. Otherwise its just another story.

    My Covid vaccination experience

On January 21st I went to the ER for a totally unrelated problem. Felt fine and did not think I had COVID. They wanted to test me. I tested POSITIVE !! So they wanted to treat me. I am 84 years old and in robust health. They took my vitals and told me that I should not go to the hospital...

    .45-70 for Elephant

I think point B) is not necessarily true. I do not flinch because I have trained myself to not know when the gun is going off. If you dont know when it will go bang, you cannot flinch until it is too late to affect the path of the bullet. If you flinch, you need more training.

    Would You Eat Slaughter-free Meat?

If I could get it or a kit to do my own, I would. When I buy a rib eye at the butcher I take pot luck. One that looks great can taste terrible. If they can make it a science and produce Whitefaced Rib Eye, I can put on a mask if I dont like the looks. Hell, I eat lobsters and I LOOK at them...

    Would you like a Cigar?

Price doesnt mean a thing to me. I was a smoker till I had my first daughter 63 years ago and decided to stop for her sake. My favorite Cigar was the Rum Soaked Crooks.....but they only cost a nickle apiece. I loved Rum and Maple in my pipe. But its not the same formula anymore. The factory...

Why Do Hunters Choose Not To Shoot?

Yes, I understand that. And I am ok with that if you guys are. I like precision shooting, whether for trophy or targets. Its our common interest. Maybe one day I will try Africa. The owner of the Tripple 7 ranch is a big game hunter in South Africa and is a great guy. He has about a million...

    From South Texas

its the same angle...just have to have a gun that shoots consistently, a well designed bullet, and a steady hand. MOA is about the size of the deer kill zone at 1000 yards, 10". I am 84 so I am almost dead and my heart and lungs dont cause much disturbance. What I learned from Paul was how to...

Why Do Hunters Choose Not To Shoot?

I am not much of a hunter. I will hunt for meat or to eliminate predators or sick, but not for trophy. Recently we saw a very large Elk with huge antlers. My ELRS instructor said, "Someone is going to get a fine trophy tomorrow, he is beautiful." We were not hunting, just target shooting. I...

    From South Texas

I live in a lighthouse on the Texas coast. Recently got interested in ELRS and took a sniper course at "777" Ranch west of Hondo from Paul Butler. He got me from MOA at 50 yds to MOA at 955 yards in just two days. Been shooting since 1941. My current big gun is a Savage 112 in .338 Lapua Mag...

    .45-70 for Elephant

I love the 45-70. I have ONE single shot 45-70, a repro from Henry. I have never hunted with it. But it was first big bore rifle I ever shot. My father was small bore champion of CA in 1936 so I was always around guns. I started shooting at 5 years of age. He had a Springfield Trapdoor and a...
