I know this was not the question, but have you considered removing pic rail and installing red dot directly to front scope mount? There are mounts available to do that. Would allow lower and cleaner mounting and also completely clear ejection port area. I can post picture from my setup later...

Here is one .30 180gr Norma Oryx bullet recovered from...Oryx! Shot from .30-06, about 2650 fps at muzzle at maybe 80m. Weight retention was good, but cant remember the number right now.

I was just about to also recommend Meopta optika5 2-10x44. I have owned two, great scope and not just for money. Lacks illumination but very good glass, pretty light with 1" tube and build quality seems to be just the same as optika6, which is great. Around 300€ in Europe.
