That whole family of cartridges are based on the 38-55, the 32-40, 32-35, the 30-30 , 25-35, 219 zipper, Donaldson wasp etc. and more modern ones like the 7mm waters. I make my 25-35, 22HP 32-35 from 30-30 brass. I think that 22HP would be a lovely rifle to shoot. Gumpy

Re: the 22hi-power, it was as Newton designed cartridge for the savage model 99 rifle (European 5.6x52R) , great small bore hunting calibre, I have a 1917 takedown version, uses a .228” diameter bullet. Gumpy

Every one needs a 404. Wisner bottom metal is good , though not cheap, sunnyhill is another. My friend mills his own out of three pieces of metal and brazes them together, when finished and installed you can’t tell how it’s built Gumpy

Hunter Habib, all the German ammo I have used has been good, although the 7x57 Hirtenberger ammo I had was loaded hot and kicked like a mule, was accurate though. I pulled the projectiles and tipped out the powder and reloaded it to a more sedate speed. Gumpy
