Cast Lead vs Monolithic Solids for Serious Work....................

Fordy, your posts aren’t the ones making my head explode, one of the down sides to mild dyslexia is I fixate on the errors as my brain tries to make sense of the sentence (y) Gumpy

Cast Lead vs Monolithic Solids for Serious Work....................

Whilst I find the information interesting and the general discussion good , the lack of grammatical clarity and the appalling spelling is making it hard to understand at times. I oft times will have difficulty spelling correctly due to dyslexia and the stupid autocorrect so I will re-read what I...

    Which reloading manuals?

It’s a martini cadet. I’ve taken deer goats and used it for culling long legged grasshoppers The load with noble powder is from an early 60’s manual that I confirmed with a 1980's manual Gumpy

No software, I’m an old school paper type of person in regards to powder loads. I’ll check different manuals as they have been known to vary in load data Gumpy

Mine is a standard action, I cleaned up the front loading ramp and then removed most of the metal from the back of the mag well, shortened the bolt stop etc. I have no idea on velocity, I just pick a middle level powder load from loading manuals, then get an average and vary it looking for...

With your mag length, is 90mm the longest you can fit? I can get 92 mm easy with nosler 200g accubonds as I made the mag well 93 mm internally, though I don’t tend to load that long as I’m mostly using 196g S&B spce . The noslers are AUS$3 per projectile here so I save them for special occasions...

The joys of reloading Big Bores

Having shot a 450 rigby off the bench, I personally wouldn’t recommend it unless you like pain. Mind you I was silly enough to fire a couple of shots, and then a 500J as well….. Gumpy

    Which reloading manuals?

I’ve got several dozen manuals, some digital, some actual books, ranging from the 1930’s to current. I will look through all the relevant ones when loading for a new cartridge, cross referencing old data and powders to new ones to see what may work with which projectile. Load data changes fairly...
