Lots of great info in this thread. I had a last minute trip to London this week so hoping to check out a few more of these recommendations if I have time.
I stopped by Holland & Holland on my way to see Buckingham palace. They let me come in without an appointment, so not sure if this was luck...
The buyers premium is pretty rough but wanted to flag this auction in case anyone is looking for doubles like below that appear to be a potential deal.
If I hadn’t went on a safari this year I would likely be asking for input on whether I should make a run at either of these...
My view is this is highly dependent on the style and activity level of your hunt.
I grew up elk hunting in Wyoming and did 95% of my hunts in jeans or carhartts. That being said - we went back to a camper every night and I remember many hunts where I was cold and miserable.
You can hunt in...
Doha usually has a great scotch selection. Japanese whiskey is usually Nikka SFTB, Hibiki Harmony Masters select and the Chita. Haven’t seen Hakushu or Yamazaki in a long time.
Bourbon is usually pretty minimal. Not sure how hard Buffalo trace is to find stateside these days but I wouldn’t...
I was going to have a custom rifle built but I ended up using that money on a hunt. I was primarily focused on accuracy not aesthetics, and much smaller calibers.
With these 10-15k rifles - what type of accuracy are they delivering? Not concerned with guarantees just curious if anyone can...
I wasn't aware of plummeting Lion numbers? In fact I thought that many countries were seeing Lion populations surge as hunting has diminished either based on cost or due to the fear of negative publicity.
I'm happy to be corrected but either way great news if cheetah populations are rebounding...
I read your report on Mokore and the Save before going (you write much better than I do), so thank you for being part of the reason I made the decision to book!
We have a kuranda - our chocolate lab uses it when he wants to lay and look out the window but he usually just prefers laying on tile. I think if we had carpet he would use this more as the design is intended to keep dogs cooler. As for quality - we have had this for 4 years and moved it across...
Resurrecting this thread as somehow I missed this report when researching my trip to the Save. Enjoyed reading your report and I hope I get the opportunity to hunt buffalo with Dalton some day. I have only been on one safari so Dalton is the best PH I have ever used... that's almost mission...
I just returned from hunting the Save with Mokore.
This was also my first hunt in Africa so I’m happy to answer any questions you might have!
I didn’t take my own rifle so I booked flights myself on Qatar.
One factor I think this video lacks and is commonly overlooked is the quality of optics. When I was younger I spent 70% of my budget on a rifle and then whatever was left was fine for a scope. Ammo prior to reloading was just the cheapest federal on sale. I wouldn’t achieve 1 MOA consistently...
Welcome! I just got back from my first safari and AH was very valuable in helping me understand where to go based on what I was looking for.
Hope you have a positive experience here as well!
Dalton's excited "take the shot" whisper didn't give me much opportunity to pass on this bull. Thankfully I didn't hesitate or question Dalton's judgment, and much to everyone's relief I didn't miss!
