Take your muck boots; the last time I hunted Saskatchewan I wore my waders one time. The rest of the time I was in muck boots or uplands.

I have a similar variation of the reduced wing safety on my Parker Hale .375H&H. It’s not as convenient as the three position safety on my Model 70, but it does the trick.

Keep us posted! There’s a large portion of lads here that love tinkering around with the old stuff as opposed to rolling out with the latest whiz bang gadgetry that comes across the gun channels.

Good stuff! I’m redoing an old Parker Hale .375H&H on a K98 action into a new .300H&H for plains game fun! It’s one of those on going projects that keeps getting pushed back when something new and shiny comes into my view…

As Ray said, the paper clip method will give you a read on the ridge issue. Another method is a dental pick (the relatively straight one)- you can feel any rough machining through the handle.

Yep! I hunt Illinois with both 450 BM and .45/70- great platforms to shoot, hunt and reload for!

I’m a #1 guy and have this exact rifle, albeit with a much cheaper scope. It is a shooter and would make a very good deer or blackbear gun for someone.
