I must have missed the post about a plan moving forward?????
Bottom line - full refund and replacement is the only solution. Anything in-between is a cobbled together 6 figure rifle. Hardly custom at this point. Not to mention the time value of these mistakes.
This will be an interesting case...
Slight hijack, but what is the process for receiving exportably ivory?? Do you need to work through a taxidermist and/or specialized freight company?
When I shot my Mozambique bull (45#), after detailed pictures and measurements, we had to surrender the ivory to the local “officials”. God only...
When I received my Impala from a South African Taxidermist it too had a less desirable cape than original. I was told this isn’t uncommon. Makes a BIG difference in your case though since your’s is a specialized variant. Best of luck!
Obviously SCI, DSC, etc spends tons of time and money on lobbying efforts in regards to conservation, in which hunting is an integral component. Is it possible - or wishful thinking, that SCI could champion the establishment of competent, standardized inter/intra policies for the transportation...
Absolutely, worked perfectly on an old dagga boy and bull Ele!! Previous safaris I wore Kennetrek Safari boots, which turns out to be very noisy - hence the change to JG.
Good old fashioned Dr: Scholls. I wear them with all my boots.
I went through the same quandary. I chose the Rangers and never looked back. I appreciated the extra stability and sure-footedness it provided me on my May safari.
Be sure to get a sole liner though. When I bought them at SCI the rep said they are designed to be worn with a liner.
