Great hunt, congratulations. I will be in Breakfast Camp in August this year for round 2 with the Ele! April of 2025 was a bust, super green and wet. Great place Matetsi.
The Hunts themselves can still be in reach, what I hate is the ridiculous airfare, taxidermy shipping, etc. I am also a bit chapped asking around some operators I know that its not common to cut US hunters a break on the cost while expecting big tips? I personally think its unfair to expect...
There is nothing wrong with a push feed. CRF have there issues also, as a client rifle if its reliable and feeds, shoots well...take it! If your a PH and need it day in day out, you could make an argument for a quality CRF rifle for sure.
Keep in mind in SA, most of the trophy costs can be negotiated some, especially on the fly. Often times I have harvested an animal not on my initial list that we come across and simply ask a price and negotiate quickly! Some times your the nail, sometimes the hammer. My 2 cents.
My 2 cents sir, set aside the flat shooting Western idea of hunting and shooting. Its Africa, be a hunter and stalk closer. Its not exciting or dangerous shooting long range at the Big 5 or Dangerous 7. My Son killed a very nice Cape Buffalo with the 270 grain TSX and it performed wonderfully...
I wish it was like the Ol' Days in Africa and you could gift your rifle. Many PH's and up and coming apprentices would appreciate and honor them. It would warm my heart to think of your Spirit still attached to a loved rifle still in Africa being used where it belongs.
