I’ve killed both. I’ve killed probably a dozen plus elk. I’ve never done a guided elk hunt, which means every one of my elk have been hard earned public land elk. They are a ton of work. I helped my buddy pack out a big bull last fall out of a rough canyon. Coming out I had about 140lbs of meat...
Honestly you’re fine across the board especially the m77. You can do a lot with a m77 in .30-06. As long as they all function and meet your accuracy standards then who cares what we we all think. Only one that catches my eye is the mossberg. Always heard they were rough but I have no personal...
I guess this is kinda tough. First I’ll say I would probably do this with rifle or muzzleloader. I do enjoy my muzzleloader hunting.
Top five animals would probably be:
1- big whitetail buck. Probably guided (prefer DIY) in Texas or maybe get a DIY buck in Idaho this year. I’ve shot dozens of...
So many rabbit holes. Africa hunting rabbit hole has been bad for me since 2022. Currently down the motorcycle rabbit hole as I’m wanting a bike for bouncing back and forth to work (no highway riding for this guy).
As to guns. I went down what I call the golf club rabbit hole around 15 years...
Also the copper hammer uses is noticeably softer than Barnes so if you’re still worried about engraving pressure you could go with Barnes data and know that the engraving pressure of the hammer is going to be lower.
Do you have any nosler or Barnes load data available to you? In the beginning before hammer had load data available it was standard to start with nosler data for a similar bullet weight and work up from there. I have found the hammers tend to line up with nosler data well.
I had a great first safari in 2024. I got lucky. I hadn’t even considered going to Africa and then my brother and SIL bought an auction hunt and invited us. Had no idea who we were even going with or where they were. Again got very lucky and our trip turned out great. Comfortable accommodations...
I use hammer bullets in multiple rifles. have used 199gr in a .300 win mag for a lot of stuff from antelope to elk to bears to oryx. Excellent results. My current go to is the 140gr Hammer HBC in my 7-08ai. It’s pretty devastating. Have used the 63gr absolute out of a .223 rem in deer, hogs...
Used bullseye in vaalwater in 2024. We did all finished taxidermy and it was a 50% deposit with the remainder due on completion prior to shipping.
I think their dip and pack as to be paid in full prior to them touching it but can’t remember for sure.
Crispi. Due to my line of work in spend a lot of time in the mountains in rough terrain. Been through lots of boots. Crispi has landed on top. Zamberlans were good. Scarpa didn’t work for me. Lowas were comfy but didn’t hold up. Danners were comfy but got shredded quickly.
Right now I have...
I’ve only been over once so take my opinion with a grain of salt. We did taxidermy over there with bullseye taxidermy. I was very happy with that choice. Our mounts are nice. Not competition quality but nicely done. From the time of our hunt to the time they were on the wall was 16 months. Not a...
Weatherby Vanguard Camilla in 6.5 creed. My daughter is a very petite 5’2” as well. Fits her perfect. The rifle is made for women so they are built slender.
