    450/400 or 470 Nitro express

I'd pass on the Cabela's listed 450-400 with "ok bores but some pitting noticed". There are better choices out there. Patience and knowledge are you most valuable tools in choosing.

Hunting Elephant with Verney-Carron Double Rifle

I always spend an hour with Jerome at DSC. Although I do not own a Verney-Caron he will spend time talking doubles with you and always a highlight to my trip there. His exuberance and love of his rifles is contagious. You will love spending time with him.

    450/400 or 470 Nitro express

A proper fitting double (or bolt/single-shot) will lessen recoil, or allow you to handle it, much better than an ill fitting one. I own a .450 No2, .475 No.2 and 450-400 3 1/4. I have owned a WR .500 but found that the .475 No.2 is a more pleasant caliber for me. The buttstocks were made to...

    Classic shotguns in Africa

Red Leg, I am interested in knowing more about your William Evans Paradox. When was it manufactured? Boxlock, hammer or sidelock? A round ball or Fosberry gun? I just had my 12 bore Lancaster Colindian (oval bore) bores measured for a Fosberry mold and waiting for JJ to get the new pad on...

    Pistol grip reservoir?

I guess if the front sight is damaged or you want to change the point of impact. I had a Cogswell and Harrison boxlock 450-400 3 1/4 BPE that shot 6 inches high at 50 yards and rectified that situation with a higher front sight.

    Pistol grip reservoir?

My Francotte had the spare front sight wrapped in the oil cloth in the grip cap. I was pleasantly surprised.

    Double Rifle: Ejectors vs Extractor

I have both on my hammerless but only extractors on my hammer guns. I love them both and would dream of an ejector hammer gun. Rarer then hens teeth. I had the same experience as Zephyr on a tuskless. Frontal brain at 15 yards and down for the count. I start to move forward and eject the...

    Greetings from Missouri

On the other side in St. Charles. My hunting buddy, Shon, lives in St. Joe. He will be in attendance with Joe Schlueter who has concessions in Canada. Shon guides for bear and Moose for Shon. If I can get away I'll try to make it. I'll give you a heads up if I can come. I'll buy the first...
