Help Me Choose my 2nd Safari

Thanks to everybody that responded and messaged me so far. Great information. Very helpful. @Chris Burger I'd be willing to travel with two rifles, but depending on location/species would also be will to go with a 375HH for everything too.

What are your favorite transplanted animal species which have been accepted as "native."

Turkeys and brown trout. It's estimated at the low point, turkeys were only left in 21 states. Now, they are in 49 states. And, brown trout...not just in the US. The famous brown trout in New Zealand were transplanted from Tasmania, which were transplanted from the UK.

Help Me Choose my 2nd Safari

Appreciate the feedback. Looking forward to reading about your experience. I read the report by @Huntforever , which is what had me strongly considering Mokore in Moz. I knew the plains game was strong, but I was under the impression their buffalo population was still developing. Good to...

Help Me Choose my 2nd Safari

Appreciate the feedback. Thanks for pointing me back to your trip reports. I was under (the clearly erroneous) impression that CMS's areas were not prime plains game areas. Clearly from your trip reports, I was wrong. And, I kind of assumed I'd look towards CMS or D&Y for a strictly DG 3rd...

Help Me Choose my 2nd Safari

Inspired by the recent thread on where/why everyone went on their 2nd safari. Having just finished my first, I’ve been thinking a lot about where I want to go next, what species I want to hunt, and what experience I want. I’d love to get input from this group’s experience. This second safari...

AI & Reloading - Better double check it!

I absolutely wouldn't rely on AI for anything potentially dangerous (like hand load formulas). Do hallucinations and slop still exist, absolutely. But they are massively reduced over even a few months ago. Also, I would be cautious conflating agents and their actions with open source LLMs...

How far do you go in the backcountry?

90% of the time I am solo on foot on public land. How far I go from my truck on foot changes daily based on four main variables: --Terrain (maintained trail, game trail, open cross-country, deadfall, up/down vertical) --Species (how heavy and how many trips: elk vs pronghorn, etc) --Packout...

What made you choose the destination for your 2nd Safari?

This has been really valuable to read. Having just finished my first safari less than two months ago and already thinking about where I want to go next, this has been great to work through the mental process and think through my priorities.
