    375 Whelen Improved?

My only experience is with the.375 Whelen (not Improved). 300 gr aframes took everything from wildebeest and zebra (400+yds) to eland and sable at over 200. 300 gr @ around 2400 fps.

Do you go afield with “hunting” or “nice” shotguns

Well, I just returned from a duck hunt in the sloppy south Louisiana salt marsh.... I carried a 95 yo AH Fox AE grade 16 bore. I bought it to use it. It does little for me reposing in my safe in luxury. She's a working girl!

    7mm-08 and Africa

Use heaviest (160 or 175 gr) strongest bullet you can get and your gun will work fine up to and including eland

    9.3x62 vs 35 whelen in 18" barrel?

Great info.. I bet that 2500 from a handgun is a “handful”. No pun intended. I’ve touched off a .375 JDJ and it’s no slouch.

    9.3x62 vs 35 whelen in 18" barrel?

This is WAG, but I would figure that you would lose around 25-30 fps per inch of barrel lost. The larger the bore, the less the velocity lost per inch of barrel cut. YMMV

    9.3x62 vs 35 whelen in 18" barrel?

Their velocity loss should essentially be the same with bullets that are the same weight, The .35 will have slightly better sectional density.
