LOL Riflecrank I am glade you are such an expert in the mater of 458 win mag . YOUR QUOAT "I strongly disagree with your use of groove-diameter cast lead bullets. You are upset because I am sizing my lead bullets to my grove diameter .458 to element lead dust build up in silencers and muzzle...

Cast Lead vs Monolithic Solids for Serious Work....................

Your 458 has .459 groves ? more like SAMI specks of .450 bore and .458 grove can be +2 thousand over but not often run into on 458 win mags they just did not make enough 458 win mags. and you are using a custom barrel not a mass produced factory barrel ? yes your 730 gr bullet is the same...

Cast Lead vs Monolithic Solids for Serious Work....................

Hello all I was setting the OAL for the 458 rounds and had to pull a bullet in a Kinetic bullet puller. I found out real quick 6 2 92 15 BHN is way too soft for the elephant bullet no need to shoot. So I am making up some 30 BHN Bullets for the testing now. The 30 BHN will be for elephant it...

Cast Lead vs Monolithic Solids for Serious Work....................

Hello Fordy and everyone else Yes the testing is mainly for front head shots on big bull elephants . This will be my first animal on my safari. In the 458 win mag probably all the chosen lead bullets will work very well, they are caring enough weight to get the job done at 458 win mag...

Cast Lead vs Monolithic Solids for Serious Work....................

Let me save all of you a lot of headache . Clip on wheel weights today are usually ZINK and Jink will eat your mold and will not cast correctly. Copper is bad in the lead it will make the bullet very brittle will cast ok but is not really wanted in cast bullets . When I bought truck loads...

Hello all . Yes let's start this discussion on a modern turn in lead bullet technology . micheal458 you are correct on the lead bullets you have shown they were made from standard 6 % antimony , 2% tin , and 92 % lead called hard lead and did what they were supposed to do with the nose shape...

Yes all modern bullets are a whole lot better than lead bullets . Lead bullets today are very different than what was used to win the US freedom 250 years ago. Palmer coatings, smokeless bullet lube, and foundry certified lead alloy today lead bullets can and are being shoot at 3000 fps today...

    How’d I do? Purchased a Mark X 375H&H

The mark x 375 loves barnes 300 gr and the 350 tsx bullets will shoot both 10 rounds in each grouping well under 1 inch at 100 yards . with the 300 dead on the 350 will be directly under the 300 gr 2 inches lower.
