    416 help

Been following this for a while and some opinions I agree with have come up. I really like the 416 Weatherby , as it can be loaded to 416 Rigby specs and not beat you up and be more than capable in the field. The muzzle break on the bench then take it off for the field is great, I have also...

For the Weatherby fans...Did you see this?

Just a thought if you hand load, I took my 416 WB and loaded some 400 Woodleigh down to 416 Rigby spec -- helps a bit . I did see and old article bad mouthing the Weatherby because it would shoot thru multiple Buff. I suspect that was back in the day they were using Solids so with the Modern...

" A large number , that I see int the videos" And I also purchased a number of hearing protection devices for our group -- just saying.

If you watch a number of videos on African safari you will see a large number of rifles with breaks--- even those provided by the PH.

Been doing a lot with a Weatherby 416 mag, I don't understand the hate either -- smooth action, quality construction. It can use Factory ammo, or load down to 416 Rigby or 416 Remington spec's.

    Judging Kudu

I was just thinking about this the other day, In the US the bigger the elk or deer the bigger the trophy to most hunters, In Africa I read that the " old warrior" is the way to go, regardless of size. I understand the taking of old bulls for the sake of the health of the heard, but I am one that...

    Sako 90 Hunter 375 H&H

I just got my Sako Bavarian 375, I like the cheek well to line up with the scope. FYI , if you want to get extra Mag,s for them , they are the same as the SAKO 85.I used the Waren vertical spilt rings for a TIKA. and they fit perfectly.

Would you hunt in an area in Africa that used a sliding scale for fees?

I have not hunted New Zeeland or Argentina for that very reason , I don't have a scope with a calculator it and don't want to. I pay my price to hunt and what ever happens --- happens.

    375 H&H Muzzle Brake?

Try a company called AREA 419 -- they will hook you up . I got one for my 416WM.

.375 or .416 for Cape buffalo?

And you seem clueless on the physics of it all. Speed (velocity) is a 4 times multiplier for ft lb of energy. Bullet Weight is a 1 for 1. Do your homework , recoil calculators put the 416 WB at approx. 70lb of recoil, given that number, if a good break will reduce that 40 % you are now down in...

.375 or .416 for Cape buffalo?

Guess you miss my point. If you can get a high recoil beast to shoot like a 300 win mag --Why not?? I have used a 338 win mag all my life, no issues. Now I am going to hunt Buff with a 416 WB MAG . If I can make it more comfortable , why not.

.375 or .416 for Cape buffalo?

I have read this thread and wonder why no one mentions recoil reduction?
