I would like to give them a try.
The punch through of mono with a bit more reliable expansion.
BUT absolutely unobtanium here in NZ for years. Bugger all about and not all the calibres especially for the rifles I'd try them in. Only a couple of loaded options too
@Ontario Hunter apart from the screws (theory), agree 100% about the bedding.
Howas I believe are Weatherby Vanguards in the US I think. They make them for Weatherby
"I would not worry too much about relieving the action screw tubes. This is only a 7mm Mauser. Recoil isn't severe. Tight fit shouldn't cause problems."
yeah i wasn't worried about splitting things, but sometimes it doesn't take much of things touching to make things shoot funny.
Ive heard a few...
Re reading this. You say the screws are really snug in those pillar type sleeves?
I would open them out a little so they have clearance.
You are sure the bedding is done properly as in everything touches everywhere at the same time?
I have a BSA P14 sporter that's been bedded and it's not right...
Well I wonder if because they are doing 375HH there would be a chance they could do 300HH.
Not a big step.
Whilst I know it is isn't the most abundant 300 magnum, from the amount of people wanting brass there is definitely a market.
Back on topic
Not all about energy. Bullet construction is key.
Quite a few guys using 223s here in NZ on deer. Some using Hammer projectiles and they work very well.
55gr soft points the general but 64gr winchesters and up to the 70+gr eldm etc.
Wouldn't have a problem on appropriate deer type animals but...
well whilst it does dictate the style of rings to use, it also is a bloody sight stronger mounting (and slightly lower i'd imagine), than using some small screws to hold bases to an action
yeah they did a similar thing here in NZ after that twat shot all those people at the mosque. In our case we had the parliament almost 100% vote it through. Sneaky buggers had a trick up their sleeve though. They kept what was called an order in council going for the firearms legislation. It...
I have several BSA rifles made from surplus P14s. They scrub a lot of the markings off except fornserial numbers.
The usual factory I'd on the action is goneski.
Nice rifle by the way
considering there is an absolute metric crapton of available 30 cal bullets compared to what is offered in 303 than if you have the pockets and the desire it is a sound one. NOS barrels are getting rare and any other barrels are the same price as any other so using a preloved take off is a great...
@Ontario Hunter that model is the santa barbara action so it has an adjustable trigger. Parker Hale went with these I suppose when the reasonably cheap milsurp actions dried up
