You were right, though, they did start in France and made boots for the French Foreign Legion quite like the canvas Pampa or Pallabouse. Somewhere along they way they were acquired by a Chinese company. I think my Pampas are marked made in Vietnam.
Don't know if they make one for yours, but Jard makes one for Ruger Hawkeye Mark II I think. I put a Jard 2.5# in my Ruger No. 1 and am very happy. Lot of Ruger No. 1 guys use Jard.

After reading the articles in American Rifleman about the Remington 721 used by Harry Selby and Joe Coogan on many safaris, I found one in 300 H&H from 1953 and added a 1954 Lyman All American 4x scope t be period correct. Pretty classic.
Have the dark brown shoellie and the rough out vellie. Wear both to work and very happy with them. Next on my list is the African Ranger with wedge sole, not the barefoot, as I won't be hunting on the veldt anytime soon, but will see rocky northern PA forests a lot.
