Another new to me British shotgun

Someone asked what shot shells you would use in that sweet thing. I'm guessing RST? Maybe No. 6? Congrats on a beautiful addition to your Brit shotguns.

    “Ek leer Afrikaans”

My hunting club many years ago had a number of guys who spoke Pennsylvania Dutch and taught me a little. Some Afrikaans sounds similar to me.

Hunting Boots, Did I do alright?

You were right, though, they did start in France and made boots for the French Foreign Legion quite like the canvas Pampa or Pallabouse. Somewhere along they way they were acquired by a Chinese company. I think my Pampas are marked made in Vietnam.

    Ruger 77 Alaskan Trigger Replacement

Don't know if they make one for yours, but Jard makes one for Ruger Hawkeye Mark II I think. I put a Jard 2.5# in my Ruger No. 1 and am very happy. Lot of Ruger No. 1 guys use Jard.

    Rigby Sidelever Single Shot Rifle

I didn't see anything he posted that was rude or an ad hominem attack. There was absolutely no reason to bring this nastiness to a respected AH member. Beautiful rifle. I may buy it.

Classic plains game rifles and cartridges

After reading the articles in American Rifleman about the Remington 721 used by Harry Selby and Joe Coogan on many safaris, I found one in 300 H&H from 1953 and added a 1954 Lyman All American 4x scope t be period correct. Pretty classic.

    Jim Green Boots

Have the dark brown shoellie and the rough out vellie. Wear both to work and very happy with them. Next on my list is the African Ranger with wedge sole, not the barefoot, as I won't be hunting on the veldt anytime soon, but will see rocky northern PA forests a lot.

    The pleasure of fine things

Your father's shirts remind of my late father, an attorney who also was a very sharp dresser right to the end. He loved this exact style of shirt. Among the many things he gave me, (in addition to showing me the way to practice law while standing for what's right) is a Montblanc fountain pen...

This forum is much richer for the contributions of Hunter-Habib. Where can I get your book Sir?

    Allure of the Ruger No1

Very nice. Since I got my No. 1 in 300 H&H it has become my favorite caliber. I know you will enjoy yours.

    Vintage British Doubles

Beautiful guns. Am intrigued by the 2" guns and how light they are.

    Vintage British Doubles

Will have to make some blocks to fit as it looks like it was made for a long LOP and barrels

    Vintage British Doubles

All the guns on this thread are beautiful and worth coveting but that blacked out Purdey is somehow more elegant than any.
