I live in Dallas and have made the DFW to J'berg flight several times. Delta has an upgraded economy seating that is good service. I've also used the United flight and it was fine. Also bought their upgraded economy seating. It's a better seat for not a lot more money with upgraded...
I hunted water buffalo in the Northern Territory, Australia in 2023. I used Australian Outback Safaris and had success. They use a tented camp, so we were "roughing it" compared to most outfitters in South Africa. Lots of big buffalo to choose from. They are not as aggressive as Cape Buffalo...
Here in Texas, my favorite hunt is doves in September each year.
For big game: Cape Buffalo. I've hunted 3 of them and would do more if I can find the money.
Third place: any upland bird hunting--quail, pheasant, etc.
That is a beautiful SO5 and unusual with the case colored metal work. A new SO sells for $80,000 to $100,000+ depending on custom engraving, wood choice, etc. This SO5 is a bargain at $15k.
Yes. Went up there from Dallas about 8 or 9 years ago to buy a Perazzi 20g George had in the vault. I traded an old Beretta 12g plus some cash. Enjoyed meeting George and seeing all the guns in the vault. So many it was hard to pick out one to examine. JJ was still in the same location at...
Next shotgun I buy will be a 28. Been looking at the Berettas. The store in Dallas has a beautiful 687 EELL--but kinda pricey. Probably will go with a Silver Pigeon.
Home Depot sells a galvanized pipe rack that holds a half cord. I keep mine in the garage to keep it dry, but make sure the pest control guy treats that area of the garage regularly.
This is really kind of a curious question. I completely trust my Chapuis 375 H&H double and my Rigby 416 Big Game. I would never go into the field with any rifle, any caliber that I did not completely trust. That's why you practice with them on the bench. If you aren't absolutely sure about...
Great news Tom! When I bought my secondhand Chapuis 375 in 2017, I had a gunsmith in Dallas remove the block in the rib and make a base for the Trijicon RMR. It fits flush to the rib and works great.
I shoot a Beretta SL3 20g for doves and quail and a 687EELL Classic 12G for pheasant. No safe queens, but I do take care of my guns. If it's raining, I might switch to my A400 semi-auto with the composite stock. If I could afford a Purdey or Holland & Holland I would still take them into the...
