    Heym 88B 500NE

Mr. Skshyk, You and I would feel better if you just put your magnificent rifle back in the safe so you can enjoy it at a later date. You are a smart man and will figure out a way to pay for your upcoming hunt without selling your Heym 500 NE. I wish you a Happy New Year and the best of...

New Here looking to get into hunting Africa

@Dublinpiper90. Welcome to AH. It's a good outfit. You cannot go wrong with the 375 H&H. Also, your 300 WSM will work just fine on plains game. Good luck and safe travels.

    Peter Capstick...who knows the truth?

I have always thoroughly enjoyed reading PHC's books and magazine articles. Was he a perfect man? No. Did he embellish details in some of his writings? Yes. The vast majority of outdoor/guns/hunting/fishing writers (though they are not alone) did/do and will continue to do so in the future...

    Barnes tsx

I use both and they perform well. Absolutely no complaints about either bullet. Yes, Barnes has done a magnificent job the past few years in making the TSX and TTSX bullets and ammo available to customers (Hornady, too, with their ammo & bullets). Sadly, Swift Bullet Company has not for...

To Sling or not to Sling a Dangerous Game Rifle, That is the Question

It's a personal choice. Do what you think is right for you. I keep a sling with QD releases and scope cover/bikini in my day/fanny pack. They are available and used as needed. On an Alaska brown bear hunt most people will probably use them most of the time.

    Hornady DGS for Elephant

@sureshot375, both the Hornady DGS (400gr.) and DGX (400 gr.) worked great in my 416 Remington Magnum. Heap good elephant and cape buffalo medicine.

    Moon’s Impact on African Game?

The anecdotal evidence/opinions for the best hunting time of leopard and lion leans towards hunting during the new moon phase or with heavy cloud cover (feel free to call BS!!). I contend you will get more chances at shooting game the more you are hunting in the field/bush. Also, the old adage...
