I was at the city lodge last month. Its super convenient that it's basically attached to the airport. It was nicer than I expected and pretty affordable. I ate dinner and breakfast there and the food was quite good.
I use the surefire ear plugs with mechanical baffle. Allows quieter sound to enter, but the baffle shuts off at a certain db. They've worked well on multiple DG hunts. I wouldn't use them on the shooting range with high volume shooting as the protection isn't quite as good as solid plugs or...
100% this! Also, use RiflePermits to get the SAPS paperwork approved before you arrive, that way you have time to deal with any issues that may arise. But honestly, I've never had anyone look very closely at my 4457s in SA, Zim, or returning to the US. As long as the serial numbers match, that's...
Regarding the new Winchester 70 quality control, I purchased a m70 safari express in 2023 and the follower would get jammed if you put more than 1 round in the magazine. After trying a few different things, I realized either the magazine box or follower was out of spec. After removing some metal...
No personal dealings. If you search for that username there are about a half dozen posts to various threads back in 2024.

I had the opposite issue with my model 70 in 375h&h - the follower was binding in the mag box when fully loaded causing the rounds to not feed. I called Winchester and they offered to send me a new follower for free. I ended up just sanding down the follower slightly to get it feeding properly...
I took 3 whitetails with my 375 h&h this year. I used 300gr power shock that I had laying around. I like it - put them down quickly with no more meat damage than what I normally see with a 45-70 or .308.
I used field and stream as well and have no complaints. Very responsive with good communication.
I'd recommend seeing who your PH partners with as that will probably make the handoff go more smoothly and you'll have someone in-country to advocate for you if something does go wrong.
I must say that after shooting the rifle a bit I do really like it and am convinced it's actually going to be a good rifle.
I'll start with the negatives. Obviously the cracked forearm sucks, but it didn't impact shootability and they're sending me a new one to replace the cracked one. The...
