    416 WSM first range trip

Great - sounds like with a little tweak you should be able to get the LH side working.

    416 WSM first range trip

First confirm per hoytcanon. Does the 3rd round feed? Also on the right side. As it feeds pointed projectiles OK, have a look at the left side of th feed ramp, to see where the point of the round nose projectile is relative to the ramp. Also repeat the process with a pointed projectile. Then you...

Without seeing it i could be completely wrong, but. It sound more like the second round is not sliding up the magazine ramp at the front of the magazine. The blunter round nose projectiles might just be fowling on a lip where the pointed projectiles ramp past the lip/edge.

How can the mechanical stress exerted by DG cartridges on the action be estimated? Peak pressure alone is not a solution

Sorry I now see you had back trust. It is debateable as to how much is transfered to the bolt face as cartridge taper and chamber finish all influence how much back thrust is actually transferred. But assuming all aspects are equal then the relative values are valid.

You also need to consider back trust on the bolt face. Force = pressure X area. It is the chamber pressure multiplied by the area of the rim. If it is a rebated rim then use the base diameter,

Will reloading disapear with the new too lazy to do it generation

Back in 2020 you could not buy any 416 projectiles in Melbourne Australia. I had a history of casting and paper patching 458 projectiles for my 45-70. From internet searches I made up a set of dies to start swaging 1/2" copper tube from Bunnings (Hardware store) down to .458 cupped jackets with...

I guess they are smaller than a 1300kg Angus Bull, as they just don't fit into a standard crush, not to mention horns! I had to look at a dry cow on the weekend that damaged her eye. She must of weighed about 1100kg - she got stuck in the race! The tranquilizer dart is plausible, but I get back...

Interesting, we are very much in a high risk bushfire area and have never had a fire started. But on extreme fire risk days we do turn them off - Once the cattle are conditioned to electric fences you can turn them off for a day or 2 as the stock generally avoid the fences.

We use 8,000vdc rather than barb wire. We have found it far more effective and less damage to stock. But when you get hit by 8,000vdc you know it.

It seems to me that every generation thinks they have worked harder than any following generation. The real change is that the work is different from generation to generation.
