    .375 H& Moose Ammo

I used my 375 RUM handloaded with Barnes 235 grain TSX to 3100 fps to take a bison, approximate weight 1500 lbs, one broadside shot, well over two ft of penetration, didn’t exit, worked great.

BRNO ZKK-602 458 Lott by Lon Paul of TangleWood Custom Guns.

GLWS. Damn, this always happens right before I go to Africa on a hunt! A Lon Paul custom built rifle is something to treasure, he was one of the best. Folks, do your research on Lon Paul. Well worth the asking price with or without the scope. I don’t need another 458 Lott but I’m tempted.

    Gracy travel MIA?

I would not be surprised if most if not all Gracy travel agents work from home. I have contacted Gracy’s emergency number while I was in Africa. They immediately responded (answered) and resolved the problem quickly. For those not reading between the lines, not all agents are created equal. I...

    What would you pay?

I selected 10k. I think it worth that but I realize I’m in the minority. For some reason the 404 Jeffery seems to command a premium, I don’t know why? Rifle appears to be in excellent, perhaps new condition. I do not know if Gulf Breeze is open to negotiation but that is what I’d offer.

    S.A. Hunt / Safari 2028, Larger Group

Hello, I would recommend Derian Koekemoer Safaris. He has accommodated groups your size before. Lots of things to do for the non hunters too- Kruger National Park and other excursions too numerous to mention. Their lodge and villas would accommodate your group size (I’ve stayed in both) and...

    My thoughts on recoil

So far my experience with larger calibers has been 416 Rem Mag, 416 Rigby, 458 Win Mag and 458 Lott. All were scoped and total weight 10.5-11 lbs. All are manageable to shoot and actually “pleasant” compared to my previously owned Remington Custom shop 375 RUM total weight with scope 7.4 lbs...

Is the 500 Jeffery really superior to the 458 Lott in stopping power?

I would argue that the 458 Lott is both a hunting and stopping cartridge. I believe far more African PH’s use the 458 Lott as a backup to clients as their “stopping rifle.” The surveys I have seen show a much smaller number of PH’s who use 500 caliber or larger. The title was designed to be...

    Gracy travel MIA?

This will be my third time using Gracy Travel to book my flights and VIP gun service in Johannesburg with Bruce. I’ve used Shawn Kennedy the last two times I booked with Gracy and she is absolutely wonderful, extremely competent and responsive. I used Gio the first time I booked with Gracy and I...

Is the 500 Jeffery really superior to the 458 Lott in stopping power?

Regarding potential feeding issues with the 500 Jeffery, for those that own a Blaser R8, 500 Jeffery any issues? They seem to be reliable from what I’ve read. My understanding also is the Blaser 500 Jeffery only holds 2 in the magazine plus 1 in the chamber for a total of 3 rounds?

    Buffalo Cow Hunt Special 2027

I really enjoyed our 2024 cow buffalo hunt with Derian. It was really exciting to track them in those thick blocks of acacia. Derian works very hard to insure you have a quality hunt and is a pleasure to hunt with. Adding some plains game and a trip to Kruger National Park really made it a...
