Where is the best steak (and why)

Well said. The companions, location, circumstances, and memories that accompany a spectacular meal often trump the goodness of the meal itself...if one is fortunate. Best Spike

Where is the best steak (and why)

I discovered my favorite steak by accident 30+ years ago in BA Argentina. I ordered it out of curiosity as I had absolutely no idea what exactly it was. Hanger steak... roasted medium rare over a hot wood fire...served with chimichuri dip sauce. IMHO several steaks are it's equal... however...

    New Buffalo call your shot

Practice accurate shooting at various distances. Put the bullet where intended with unfailing consistancy...and don't worry about "where" to shoot your Buff. Your PH will tell you exactly when...and exactly WHERE to shoot. If you are proficient with your rifle, and capable of hitting the spot...

    Who wears shorts on Safari?

I am neither a fashionista, nor a historian, but am firmly of the mind that, the Daisy Duke/nut-hugger/shorty shorts fashion trend was firmly and indelibly established in Zim...during the Bush War...'64-"79. Reminiscing back through photos of some of the roughest, toughest gentlemen I've ever...

    Who wears shorts on Safari?

Possibly brain fade, but I don't recall even seeing a tick in N/W Zim...Gwaii, Shangani, Dete, Chirisa, etc. Spike

    Who wears shorts on Safari?

I most often rely on 2 pairs of convertible pants with... zip-off legs. One in paper-thin tropic weight material, the the other in a bit heavier canvas/cotton. That combination covers most of the bases for me....hot, cool, heavy thornbush (sort of), scrub, etc. Best of Afrcan luck to you...

Battle of bad choices .243 vs 6.5 Creed for hogs

Just my personal experience. I owned 1 particular rifle and bullet that was used exclusively for Coyotes and Hogs...for 15 years or so. A LH Tikka T3X in .243... stuffed with 100 gr Nosler Partitions. I don't keep records, but am confident that 50-60 Coyotes and 10-15 Hogs found that combination...

    Kudu Pricing?

In full disclosure, I got in a bit of a bind with the wife de jour myself. The plan was Buff, Sable, Kudu, and hopefully Leopard. Sadly, self-control has never been my long suit. Looking back, even with that daily rate and those trophy fees, it SURE felt awfully expensive at that time. Cheers Spike

    Question about Cape Buffalo bosses

Thanks very much for the article. Very good primer...and should be required study material for all who aspire to hunt (IMHO) the greatest game animal on Earth. Best Spike
