    Hunting Bow and Arrow Requirements

In 3 trips to South Africa, I've never been checked in any way. Two of the PH's wanted to see me shoot, but only at 20 yards. The last PH told us where the range was and we were welcome to shoot if we cared to, but he didn't even watch us. Best of luck on your trip.

Help with my bow hunting setup for Plains Game

Welcome, Synergy. While I'm not nearly as experienced as many others, I have been fortunate enough to make 3 trips and collect a few critters. I have had passthrues on animals such as Kudu, Waterbuk, and Zebra with a lesser set-up than yours. In fact, the Zebra shot was with a bow at 56 pounds...

First Plains Game Hunt - Bow or No?

I'm pretty much of a new guy, but not quite as new as you, so I'll offer my comments for what you may feel they're worth. I, and my hunting partner, have made 3 trips to RSA, bowhunting only. I had a number of years rifle hunting in the USA before taking up bowhunting. Like 20 years, or so...

SOUTH AFRICA: BOWHUNT: 4th Trip To Limcroma Safaris & It Just Gets Better Every Time

I don't have any plans at this time, but I'd surely like to go back in the next few years. If/when I do, you can be sure Limcroma will the outfit anyone else would have to beat. My next big hunt will likely be New Zealand, but no firm plans for that either.

SOUTH AFRICA: BOWHUNT: 4th Trip To Limcroma Safaris & It Just Gets Better Every Time

Congratulations on a great trip, and some excellent shooting. I'm particularly fond of the unicorn.

Bow hunting large animals - is it ethical?

Is it ethical? Surely can be, but it depends on the hunter/PH combination (probably the most important aspect). Given the proper combo, there will be the proper equipment, skills, shooting ability, and dedication to getting it right the first time. I've never hunted the big dangerous stuff...

    Jaguar in Texas

Thanks for the great video. I've yet to see one, but always looking.

    Traditional Bow Hunting

All good comments above. I shot longbows and recurves for years until my shoulders suggested I try the compound. Never hunted Africa with traditional equipment, but have been 3 times with my compounds. Walk and stalk with a trad bow should be no problem. The only "hang up" (pardon me) might...

    Jaguar in Texas

It has to be exciting to have something that rare coursing your property, but no so exciting having it eating/running off all your game. Probably 15 or 18 years ago two friends, a friends nephew, and I were on an early spring Javelina/hog bow hunt a bit North of Laredo. Shortly after Sun-up...

    Archery anatomy?

Sound information above. I've never dis-located a shoulder, so no help there, but --- I am a geezer and have some problems with both shoulders. To the point that I sometimes shoot left and other times right. Rather depends on which shoulder is the worst at the time. In light of this, I'd...

Next gen of bow hunters in SA

Good decisions come from experience. Experience often come from poor decisions. It's a learning process. It seems that you're working with them on that. My hat's off to you for that effort. Best of luck with it and to them. Butch

    Javelina hunting

As to who with, or how much it should cost, I have no idea. From my screen name you may guess that I'm kind of a Javelina junkie. Perfect bow quarry for any bowhunter, but most especially for us fat, OLD, farts. Very poor eye sight, only moderate hearing (the whole herd is constantly making...

    Animal wish list

I don't have enough experience to know for sure, but I think a true trophy Warthog is as difficult as a true trophy Kudu.

    Animal wish list

I think it's helpful for your PH to have a good idea of what you want to take, and, surely, for what you're not interested in. That goes for trophy quality as well as species. On our first trip my wife made us some small laminated flash cards. We had been to the Houston SCI show and collected...
