It would be threaded to 1/2-28, then the 5/8-24 is threaded on over the 1/2-28. You have an adapter 1/2-28 to 5/8-24. Purple lock tite holds it all in place. Some gunsmiths incorporate a tapered shoulder that makes it all look good.
