I just wanted to comment so everyone knew I’ve hunted buffalo :p I just got back from Zimbabwe. I was fortunate to take 2 bulls. I can see why people want to hunt them over and over again. I wanna go back so bad
I agree 100% with shooting any game again and again until it’s on the ground. It...
I’m currently in Zimbabwe. Sitting with two very experienced Zimbabwe PHs around the fire last night and talked about this thread. I said “35-50 pounds in ECA”. And they said “maybe 25 pounds”
I’d be wary from youve said so far
Tholo in Botswana has tons of kudu. They killed a 60 incher before I got there and after I left.
Also. Crusader in the eastern cape has the hills and relief to glass them. Smaller cape kudu bulls though
I like to have a light and I carry extra contacts. Also carry a single muscle relaxer and a single pain pill just in case I tweak my back a ways from the vehicle.
And I won’t wear cotton shirts. Merino wool for me. Dries quicker. Not as tough as cotton. But far more comfortable for me as a...
Fiasco on the way to a Russian sheep hunt in 2018. Delayed and missed flights. Luggage lost at La Guardia. My rifle made it. Ammo and clothes did not. I had to buy 12 rounds of 300 RUM in Russia for $300. Wore the same Kuiu pants and shirt and underwear for 17 days.
Did not even see a ram...
I hunted with Tholo in 2023. I dream of going back every day. Riaan was the main PH and Werner was second PH. Tholo runs a first class operation and went above and beyond for me. Can’t recommend highly enough. Someday I’ll return and hunt another elephant with them.
I’ve got a buddy that bought a FARM (just for hunting) without talking to his wife. He was at the auction and he thought it was going cheap, so he bought it. 10 years later and you STILL can’t bring it up in front of her
I’ve been pretty tame. Took a “shortcut” down a dry waterfall while...
I enjoyed hunting Botswana although I didn’t hunt close to the Delta. My PH Riaan’s family were trekkers that settled there in the late 1800s using oxcarts.
I have looked and looked for history books or stories about the settlement and early hunting. Can’t seem to find a whole lot. I do have...
You’ll never look back. I don’t know how I hunted 30 years without one. I’ve got one on a short barreled AR that I thermal hunt coyotes with. It’s so enjoyable to shoot that you’ll run out of ammo in no time.
