There is a special run Lipsey's edition of the BFR in 45/70 with a 6" barrel. So you would end up with what I'm guessing would be roughly the same overall dimensions as a 454 or the like with a 7.5" barrel. So I don't think it would be too ungainly.
That was kind of my line of thinking. There is a plethora of reloading data with anywhere from very mild to crazy hot so you could start as low as you needed for training and then work up to whatever you needed. My main thought was just the extra case capacity to achieve the velocity you want...
If a person wanted to get a pistol for the sole purpose of killing a cape buffalo would you be better off getting a BFR chambered in 45/70 in order to be able to load the solid brass bullets, which take up a lot more case capacity? Also you would have all of the .458 projectiles to chose from...
I hope matrix has improved their work. I had an extremely bad experience a few years ago. I would say one should do their due diligence before sending a rifle to them. This is just my opinion based on my experience. Your mileage may vary.
:ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: you are correct! That was not my intended point of impact! That was several years ago with the 357. Shot was about 40yds. I killed one last year out of a box blind with the redhawk at about 20yds and the shot was spot on where I was aiming. It is amazing how easy it...
Working on both rested and offhand. A lot of rested shooting at the moment standing off a set of shooting sticks. I have been concentrating most of the practice on grouping at 15 and 25yds just trying to get consistent with the trigger squeeze. I have done a bit of shootong off the sticks out...
Here is the most recent update on the handgun hunting journey.
I started with the Ruger Blackhawk 7.5" in 45 colt. I have put a few hundred rounds through it and my accuracy is improving for sure. I have expanded the collection to a 22lr single six, and a Blackhawk in 357, 45, and a super...
Considering a second West KY big bore rifle shoot. We had one in Oct of 2024 and a good time was had by all. Looking at possibly the 26th of Sept or the 17th of Oct. I would be interested in any input or suggestions from those that attended the last shoot or are interested in attending this...
Looking at possibly doing a repeat of the Double Rifle shoot this fall if any of you all are interested. Possible dates are Sept 26th or Oct 17th. I will start a new thread. Not 100% sure yet but we are discussing it and I would like to know the level of interest.
Looking for a 2.5-8 but will also consider straight 4x. Would be interested in doing some trading if possible. I have a pretty large assortment of reloading components and gun parts.
