I have a set of dies and some bullets if you’re interested. A couple of boxes of Nosler bullets and a large box of cast bullets. I’ll get details when I get home later today.
I suppose it all depends on how you interpret it. I was thinking maybe they aren't true to size? Nothing disparaging - I can't imagine it's a quality issue. I've been waiting for a pair to come up for sale in my size and have a legitimate question. Perhaps I didn't phrase it softly enough.
I've seen several references to 1:14. Craig Boddington (and/or his daughter) used 400gr bullets in a #1 405 to kill cape buffalo in Africa. Must work pretty well with 400 grainers. (y)
You guys are making this harder to sell....
I was reminded that I did buy this rifle here a couple of years ago so I am the third owner. I changed the stock with another rifle as a gift to my father in law - something he would never allow himself. Probably should keep this but need to turn it into something my sons will put to better use...
Almost new Ruger No.1H Tropical Rifle in 405 Win. 24" barrel, barrel band sling swivel, quarter rib. I am the second owner, purchased here (or possibly on 24CF). I fired it six times to verify function and never got around to mounting a scope so haven't shot it since. The only negative is a spot...
Just to add to the confusion, I love my No.1 in 9.3x74R. Heavier loads for bigger stuff in Africa (when I can get there) and 250gr Accubonds for elk. Not unpleasant at all, even from the bench.
