168g is more than enough. I used 160gr Barnes TSX all-copper bullets and they proved devastating on everything from impala to zebra and kudu. Bullet construction is (in my opinion) the most important consideration.
I shoot 160gr Barnes TSX loaded in Federal Premium. Hits HARD. At one point my PH jokingly said he'd consider using it for buffalo. Had full pass through on every animal.
Just my 2 cents (might even be worth less than that), but one trend that I've noticed in a couple replies in this thread is the idea of "impressiveness". More specifically, it seems as though the writers (and I'm not pointing fingers in judgement, just making an observation and responding) are...
I'm one of those hunters that has not received their taxidermy from Kuche in 2 years, so I can confirm you heard correct. However, their camp was perfectly safe for young kids. I don't know why they told you that. Dinners every night were served family/dining hall style and everyone was very...

Funny you should mention that. We had a slight issue with our PH putting us on immature wildebeest. I'm giving him grace because, other than that, he was absolutely fantastic and we all make mistakes from time to time. Also, because when he misidentified a young bull as a cow he was absolutely...
He was an old salt. Worn down teeth and horns, faded stripes. He measured out at 52". I would loved to have seen him in is prime. I was super happy with him. And the mountainous property we harvested him on was stunning.
