Hand loaded 7x57 if history, prestige or classic status is important.
7mm08 if you just want a nice little round that will take the game animals you mentioned.
The yoke on the bogpod tripod rest swivels if I’m not mistaken, mine does. It’s not the same as good old fashioned crossed and taped/bound together sticks to form a tripod and most certainly not the same as the quad stick options.
That said a 2.1 inch 5 shot group at 100 yards off a bogpod with...
The 168s are averaging 2805 fps with 55 grains of H414 in my 30-06. Pleasant to shoot, good trajectory and pass troughs on everything I’ve shot. I quit looking after that.
I’m a bolt handle grabber myself. I like the positive control it ensures, and I run it hard and fast while shouldered. No time for looky Lou’s in my book.

People can poo poo old scopes but as far as set it and forget it types these old Leupold scopes are great. Besides that, no one that I know of is making scopes with a gloss finish anymore. If you have a wood stocked rifle with a nicely blued finish they look absolutely appropriate. And...
I normally buy into the sectional density theory because it makes sense but the all copper bullets seem to tip the table over on that idea. There’s an awful lot of cases of full penetration pass throughs on elk sized animals with the likes of a 120 TTSX from a 6.5x55.
I’ll be interested in...
