We do a lot of winter hunting in Sweden and it is well known that when you need a lot of accuracy (e.g. when hunting capercaillie that is a small target often shot at 100-250 yards) then you should develop "winter loads".
The point of impact changes between 85 F to -20 F....
I find this a very interesting subject. Coming from Sweden, our "federal reserve" has been eager to keep the swedish Crown cheap, to the extend that we now since 2 years have a negative federal interest rate. While this helps the export driven economy (Sweden has 3-4% GDP growth and had it even...
His best shooting load was just over 2400 fps with a 250 gr bullet and he called it "a moderate load" (in Swedish).
In the load notes there is a mention to try a faster double-base powder from Vitavourhi instead of the Norma powder but I didn't know if he ever tried it..not to my knowledge at least
I have shot boars up to 200 yards. Maybe a little more on the rare occasion. And a roe buck at 245 when my 7 mm RemMag was at the gunsmith so I hade to take the Blaser... But I feel more limited by my scope (Trijicon) than my rifle in that case.
I will check the velocity he gets (I think I...
Short barreled 9.3s are quite common where I hunt. I know at least 5-6 guys who uses them for moose and boar.
I checked and a friend of mine loads his 50 cm to ~2600 fps with the Oryx 232 gr and he has taken some nice moose bulls and at least 50 boars with it.
The R8 is so short as it is so I...
I have shot dozens and dozens of wild boar and deers with my Blaser R8 with 57 cm barrel in 9.3×62 loaded with the 232 gr norma oryx loaded to 2670 fps.
I have also used Barnes TSX 250 gr @ 2550 fps with success.
I have been using the 156 gr and the 170 gr Norma Oryx as well as the 140 and 160 TTSX Barnes in my Tikka 7 mm RemMag.
Mainly on different deer and a few wild boars. Honestly, haven't noticed ANY difference in ability to kill animals quickly.
The only bullet I've had problems with in the 7 mm...
Well first can discard the picture because his wife is Judi, they have been married since the 1940'ies. It also has him dead in 2006 and appeared in the press in Sweden in both 2009 and in 2011 in interviews.
I know he was alive in May last year (2016) and I would guess I would have heard if...
