I watched the video. Cost me C$4000. But I LOVE that scope. It lives on my .375 H&H barrel and I can't imagine a better combination.
Thanks for the excellent video Philip.
Shout out to Red Leg-- if more Americans could state their own opinions as clearly while listening respectfully to alternate opinions we wouldn't be in this mess.
Yeah, gun parts is the same as guns to the US. Oddly enough, Canada is much more chill about gun parts and components coming in or going out-- all the approvals and hassle is on the US side.
Best advice so far is the angle grinder:-) Not sure if it is a universal term but up here we call that Bubba the Gunsmith.
Sounds like I should leave well enough alone . I was hoping they would be as modular as the rest of the rifle because the gun rack in my SxS has a very small opening for...
I'd like to remove them with the option to put them back on. If they screw off, I assume they would screw back on. Hunting in Canada, don't need them. Hunting in Africa, need them.
I don't know White Swan but I've hunted the Kootenays for elk a number of times self-guided. It is a very large area but in my experience numbers are good in the region and it is beautiful, classic elk country. Sorry, not much help beyond that. I live about 13 hours drive away from the...
.223
9.3x62
.375h&h
I haven't considered a .22 because the .223 handles all the practice at ranges similar to what I shoot with the .375.
I've thought about adding a 6.5PRC and .280ai but I already have those chamberings in nice light mountain rifles so I probably won't. My R8 Ultimate is...
A threaded stud on the barrel would make it seem wise just to leave it.
I'm in Canada and there isn't much of a market in R8 stuff so selling and buying another isn't really an option. I've been trying to sell a (fairly priced) 9.3x62 barrel for a couple months now and have had zero inquiries...
While I recognize the value in iron sights for many types of hunting I just don't see myself needing or using them in the foreseeable future. Plus, I always seem to get that front sight hung up on something when I'm trying to move quickly.
I don't have a good gunsmith nearby so I'd like to do...
I think what .375Ruger was suggesting is to buy a memory foam mattress and use it as your top and bottom layer. That would give you the top and bottom you have currently to cut up and use as the middle layer. I think that is a great idea and will be trying that myself.
One thing I forgot to rule out-- the possibility of a dummy behind the trigger. I was just at the range, working on load development for a 300 gr PRVI, loading one round at a time because I don't want to add crimping into the variables until necessary. The magazine works flawlessly this way...
Thanks Red,
I didn't realize that about the interchangeability of the scopes but it makes sense.
I feed rounds in one at a time from the top when I'm testing loads but I will have to insert the magazine/trigger group quickly if I'm hunting in my truck or SxS because we cannot transport a...
