i believe this came up a couple of months ago that A Square's current owners have closed and/or sold the company.
if sold, unless the new owner - I think they're up to a total of three owners during their lifetime' - gets it on solid footing - the question of the Hannibal rifle is a moot point...
It is unfortunate indeed esp. for those that don't have a supply of brass of the unique calibers they offered for their rifles - makes them more than useless unless they're rebarreled etc.
Hope the new owners can make it go.
These pics have floated around the S&W forum for atleast two years and I 'think' the Chinese ammo is the latest spin on the explosion.
Personally, I believe that it was handloading at its worst - but just my $0.02!
Hell of a waste of a good revolver not to mention the obvious danger shown.
There's a new article about hunting elephants with the 505 Gibbs that you should read - ther are some loads listed for te 600g Woodleigh bullet - enjoy!
Here is the link: Hunting Elephant with the .505 Gibbs
I looked in my A-Square reloading book and it also does not have any loads for the 505 other than the 525g bullet!
I also have the CZ in 505 - great shooting rifle.
My load which atleast duplicates the factory trajectory at 100 yds with a 500gr Hornady bullet was 110grs of 4350. Its been awhile since I've loaded some of these but I'm not sure how you got the additional 5grs in the case BUT like I said its been awhile.
