    30-06...again

You need to talk to Alan from Barnes to get an exact velocity window. The 2000 fps is a general rule of thumb. The .358 225g TSX expands 1.7x at 1600 fps and 2.0x expansion at 1700-1800 fps. Each bullet is heat treated specifically for a certain cartridge in mind. The 168g was designed for the...

    Hesitations about Africa

The only thing I was hesitant about was how the airport and dealings with people from another country would be. ( police with rifles etc…) Nothing else was even a concern.

    Ruger m77 accuracy issues

Yes these items to look out for apply to any Ruger. They apply to any rifle for that matter but specifically what is talked about can happen to a Hawkeye if not assembled correctly.

How Are Generational Preferences Changing Tourism?

As a millennial myself a cell phone is as much technology as I have, granted it is an iPhone it’s the oldest cheapest one they still sell. Take me to the most remote, heinous weathered, primitive place on earth and I’m at home. It scares me what my generation and younger has accepted as normal...

    Barnes TSX?

I believe when I talked to Alan at Barnes that specific bullet out of my 308 is still expanding at 400 yards with a muzzle velocity of 2450 fps out of my 16”‘barrel. Each bullet is designed for k a specific window in mind and they actually heat treat them all differently. It seems expensive or...

    Barnes TSX?

I haven’t used them in Africa, but they are well regarded there by many. They shoot great out of many of my rifles. Have used them on bears, hogs, deer which may be over kill but always gives an exit hole and easy tracking job. My PH loves them; didn’t know much about the north forks until I...

Conservation Failure? Elephant Kills 25 People

I’m not sure “survived” is the correct term here. Tranquilizer, trapped / relocated , darted , would not kill anyone / anything. It’s just like our prison system here, stuff and cuff and next thing you know they are back on the streets. Not that I want to pay to feed them for a lifetime...

Safari/ Cartridge Belt and Slide Options and Opinions

I prefer leather any day of the week for looks and nostalgia, but that said I appreciate canvas for price and the elastic holders that never stretch like in a leather cartridge loop. So long as it’s not stored with ammo in it I hey seem to hold tight when you need them for years to come.

    Ruger m77 accuracy issues

I have not read through all the comments but for a basic list for the Ruger m77 that I’ve done to all mine: -Pillar bed front and rear screw locations ( brownels sells the front pillar) -bed the action ( some barrels like the chamber supported, some do not. ) -Trigger job or a Timney -free float...

    Scope mounting question

A drop or two is all that’s needed, though I have had times where the stuff runs right out and makes a mess and covers the whole screw. With that said 1-2 drops and a correct torque setting I’ve never had anything come loose.
