Some of you remember when I got my Heym, I decided to get a Searcy in 470 that I had on lay away. In the classified ads I recently sold two Ruger RSM's to off set the cost. Well I'm happy to say my Searcy 470 made it home today. Here are some pics ( if I do this right ). Not chest thumping, just sharing my new toy.

Beautiful!

Looks like one fine gun, beautiful wood!

Thanks guys, your opinions are greatly appreciated. Hope she shoots as good as she looks..

I really like the looks of that rifle.

very nice! if it shoots any thing like my Searcy you will find it to be both comfortable and accurate.

Yes sir that us a rifle to be "Double" proud of! I trust you will let's us know how she shoots.

Well guys, I really didn't have time to go out of town where I shoot to try my Searcy 470 , so I couldn't stand it anymore and went to a friends house who has a pistol berm. Even though it was only 25 yrds long, and with no paper targets, we shot water jugs. Mostly I just wanted to make sure the rifle functioned like it supposed too. I wanted to make sure there were no chamber issues, even though it has extractors, wanted to make sure they were smooth and that the cartridges would fall out when rifle was inverted. I have to say recoil to ME was considerably more than my Heym 450/400, and my 458 WM. It's tolerable and I can learn to handle it no problem. Busting water jugs with ammo it wasn't even regulated for was fun! After firing a half box letting it cool between pairs, I inspected the brass and was pleased to see the brass looked liked it was never fired. That made me happy. Not a mark o r deformity at all. The extractors stuck the brass out perfectly where I could pluck them out, or when the rifle was inverted, the brass fell out Easley. I'm happy!! Now to learn how to shoot it like it supposed to be.

sounds like every thing went well! I look forward to you range report when you can actually stretch its legs.

Yup, when I can get to some private property where I shoot, 50 yrds then 100 yrds no problem. Then I can see what it needs for regulation.

Congratulations, it looks beautiful. Now for the fun of getting to play with it.(y)

All the best.

Beautiful, work of art. Having a gun like that should be grounds for a little chest thumping;)

Thanks Bob....no chest thumping..lol. Just sharing. But she is a thumper that's for sure.

Hey guys, I talked to Butch Searcy today to ask a few questions about my 470. He is recovering nicely from his back surgery and is putting in a couple of hours daily to get work done. Since the rumor mill is always active, I thought I would share the latest from Boron Calif. Butch has laid off most employees for now, and as I said earlier, working a few hours a day. He is only going to cover warranty's of original owners . If you send a repair in, he WILL fix it but might be awhile. He'll get more done as he gets better, and I imagine more employees returning ( guessing on my part). He was super nice in taking time to talk to me, and gave me valuable info on factory ammo for my rifle. I wish him a speedy recovery!

Beautiful rifle......I'm jealous! LOL

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.

Hi EGS

I read your thread with interest. Would you mind sending me that PDF? May I put it on my website?
